I never cared for 3 or 4. Loved 1 and 2. Though 3 and 4 werent nearly as bad as Downpour, homecoming and others.

Never actually played newer than SH4 than just a while. I know that they, well, suck, but there are much worse games out there, so I guess I'll try them out one day.

Only problem with the Silent Hill 2 Remake is the Developer can change the game as much as they like in a Remake that's why I prefer Remasters because all the Developer does there is give the graphics a facelift and brings the game to where it can look good on modern monitor resolutions but doesn't change the base game into something else.

That's true.

I would like newer puzzles and what not but same story

According to what I have heard/read before on everyone's favorite Vietnamese basket weaving forum that blooper said they want to do just that - keep main game same but newer puzzles and some more areas, and I think an added new ending.

I just hope they keep the dog ending.

Wait wait wait wait what !? It would be a dream to see a perfect remake/remaster of SH2 but I think it's impossible, especially when you see how Resident Evil 2 was remade, it's not the same game xD I should test Resident Evil 3 new version 'cause I loved the original one but I think I would be pissed by any changes.
SH2 is perfectly playable in its state for sure.

For those who didn't know, "Silent Hill" is based on a real event/city. Centralia/Pennsylvania, destroyed by a out of control underground mine fire.
There are tons of documentaries, reports and exploring clips on Youtube. Crazy place.

Will the remake have the fixed perspectives (i.e. where you don't have the ability to view an area in a full 360° arc)? It was always exciting fighting something you couldn't completely see because of the wonky POV.

It looks more like the camera system may be more in line with how RE2 Remake was.

As for the ridiculous PC requirements, it makes a bit more sense.

Not only is Blooper terrible at optimizing games, it actually has a lot more to do with the fact they are using UE5 and that lumen which is very taxing. And some kind of RT/Shadow functions that will be absolutely abysmal due to the fog effect.

I think the fog in the original Silent Hill 2 was to reduce the performance requirements -- because when your view distance is blocked by fog there is a lot less to render.
