I have two PSU's: A chiefmax PSU 500W with 28A across a 12v rail and a Thermaltake TR2 Cable Management 550W with 16A across on one 12v rail and 17A on another. Which PSU is better to run a AGP Radeon 3850 or X1950 Pro since these cards need 30A.

Neither one should have any issues powering it. The rated amount isn't the card alone but the entire system. So whichever should be just fine.

I trust the Tt more, but the cheifmax would also do the job. Hell, I am running a Dynex(FSP OEM) 400W 2x 12v 15A in my 2nd rig AKA "Julie". No problems AT ALL!

EDIT:

Need to edit, found out the Dynex is a Huntkey Green Star. I better change it out soon ... :ohwell:

Having a single rail power suppliy is supposed to supply cleaner power on the rail.
Have multiple rails will still give you all the power you need for the card.

Those cards don't actually need 30A on the rail, I ran a 9800 off a single 16amp rail.
