Need help, I went to play two days ago and wasn't able to load a saved game. It didn't even show I had a saved game. I have 40+ hours in and really don't feel like starting over. I posted in the skyrim thread a couple times with no response. It is a steam copy. Anyone got any ideas?

That's bad... :(

Check what you have here: MyDocuments\My Games\Skyrim\Saves

Also, try this:

You formatted your c drive?!

oops. Yes the saves are in My Documents... that'd be on the c drive... :ohwell:

1) How long between plays? - Asked to determine if there was an update between plays.

2) Have you moved you saves? - They are buried in my documents, by default. If you moved that folder you may have relocated saves without letting the game know saves had been moved.

3) How else can we help? - We don't know what else you've been up to, what you've updated, or what has changed. At best, all we can do is poke around in the dark and offer vague suggestions. If you want real help then do a windows search for the saves, and locate them that way before complaining that we don't respond fast enough to a very vague problem... We can only help those that help themselves.

Edit: Yeah, reformattng C means you're borked. Sorry, but there's nothing you can do...

well that sucks... I wonder why it's not sync'd with the steam cloud

Three days isn't patient enough for you lmao...

The saves aren't saved on the cloud either, as far as I know..

well that's the problem then ty for helping BP

Just a pro tip "make link" of the save games folder to a network folder or drop box account. saves always their.

So many games place the save files on the C drive. You won't forget that next time. Thats a hard way to learn. sheesh.

almost all games save in the my documents folder, why would you format and not keep a backup?

pro tip: keep your desktop/my docs on another drive too, not just steam
