I would like to buy a slim dvd drive for cheap, but in good working order of course. Also I hear that these drives need some sort of sata power adapter for desktop use? I need this slim drive for my new dedicated crucher (Haf-Xb) and it will be mounted in a BYTECC drive tray. As for trades? I am willing to give up this triple rad if anyone is interested.

Radiator for trade if interested:
Thank you :)

Yeah your better getting one with it's own power source.. The one i have here was of Amazon and got it a few years back for $22 inc.

The actual drive is made by TEAC but such a shame that it don't have to use a adapter with it as 5v is no were near enough if you want shit done fast.

But here's cheap and ya get what ya pay for http://www.amazon.com/dp/B002782LTG/?tag=tec06d-20

Performance is not a priority, and I should have specified that I need an internal drive that will fit in this adapter tray. Thanks for the tips anyway AsRock, it seems that most internal slim drives I have searched for are way to expensive at the moment.

Ps: Reason for a 'slim' drive, the Haf Xb is limited on drive bays.

Well to me it looks like a laptop drive bay or maybe i am looking at the picture incorrectly.

My bad i was looking at the picture wrong as at 1st it looked like a laptop DVD player would fit in it.. That bracket must be for smaller HDD's and lower in the bay than it looks.

I am pretty sure laptop slim drives will work with the BYTECC drive tray (hdd/sdd mount on bottom), see pic:

Correct with the different power port. When I bought a slot loading silverstone slim drive for the HTPC, it came with an adaptor cable that just went into the drive as one piece but had separate sata power and sata data cables to connect to the PSU/mobo.

Yeah after taking the casing of mine it looks the same as the one in the picture.

EDIT:

Model number is DV-28s (-wz3)and there is some on ebay.. This drives never been fast for me maybe it's due to the 3rd party addon card so it can be used as a external drive which i never checked because as long it did what i needed i was happy lol.

Keep in mind also Snapshot, not only will you need the power and data adapter, but you will also need the little tiny screws that mount them suckers. LOL, they are about the same size and the tiny screws in prescription glasses.

Thanks for all your help guys! I found out that Newegg finally listed a LITEON slim drive for a decent price and I am goin with that. :)

MODS can close this thread now, thanks!

The BYTECC drive tray adapter thankfully includes those tiny screws. ;)
