Hey,

I observed strange problem with my computer.
When I press power button, sometimes my computer won't start correctly. Disk diode is off but my cooling is running. After five seconds, computer is turns off, then runs for two seconds and again is turns off, then computer runs without any problems.

So in simply version:
Sometimes computer reboot several times before turning on the monitor.

The same thing happens when I turns on after sleeping mode.

I check all cables and I check Boot menu in the BIOS. Everything is fine.

Thanks
Tintai

My ASUS P9X79 Deluxe will do that when it boots and the system is unstable. However after it starts up the third time it will tell me that the OC failed. This occasionally happens to me even when the OC is stable. It's only occasionally, and it usually hangs on something, like the VGA LED. Does it do it at stock too?

I have processor to 4.2GHz. Do you think that is the OC fault?

i also experienced this some times only....

after succesful reboot, i checked the event viewer..... at most it is because of windows update...

and sometimes also OC is unstable and CPU reverts to stock settings....

I have the same board, my 2500k is oc'd to 4.6 and no double boots at all.

It's a power problem, not enough juice at boot up.
If you're using the ASUS EPU make sure it's switched to auto or performance.
I guess you already have it switched to performance so try it on auto. auto

Ok, I try this. Maybe 650W is not enough for me?
I have EPU Power Saving Mode. And this option is Disable. I should enable it?

I think you shouldn't be too far off with 650W though mine was doing it on a 750W with no OC and standard cooling (if that makes any difference).
For sure you must make sure it's not set to energy saver at the same time as it tries to find ways to save juice.

Ok, thanks. So I set this to Enable > Auto. Will see.

Some people think it's not so good, I think it's excellent. I use it on auto all the time with no problems (unless I switch it to power saving).
You need to ensure that it's switched on on the mobo as well as having the software installed.

Depends, does it work fine at stock speeds and voltages?

I don't remember but I think, yes. Works fine on stock speed.

No, EPU doesn't fix this. Today I had double rebot. Any other ideas?

So you have the EPU desktop software set to auto and in the BIOS? Did you also try booting in "performance"?
So you have the windows power options set to performance or balanced at least?
Occasionally I just run: sfc /scannow, just for the hell of it.
Did you ever push the BIOS reset button on your mobo?
Did you ever update your BIOS?
Occasionally the graphics driver crashes, do you update?
Does this problem still occur if you lower your OC to 4GHz?

Only in the BIOS. Not software.

No. I try this.

Balanced, default.

Did you ever push the BIOS reset button on your mobo?
Yes, few times.

Did you ever update your BIOS?
Yes. I have the lasted. 1909.

I don't remember but I think, no. Only when I have OC.

Maybe I have to low voltage? 1.280.

Reset your BIOS and run stock settings and see what happens. We'll never be able to rule out the OC until you run it at stock.

So I will do that.

It seems to be good on stock clock.

Sounds like an unstable overclock to me, either that or your CPU was running a bit too hot. How do your temperatures compare?

Nooo, temps are good. ~25C idle and ~50C/55C max in gaming.

Maybe when computer is starting, my water cooling does not have time to to cool processor. I don't know. I must test some options.

unstable overclocks can cause irregular boots

I got a list of things that an unstable oc can do. best thing to do is test with prime and/or IBT, when that's done game/fold/crunch or whatever then reboot your pc lots of times.

I always test the hell out of my overclock (when I got time lol)

Hi
frist time:>>>>>:remove your battery
second time::>>remove all part of your system and again assemble

might be that. asus secretly overvolts at load, so that slowly deteorates the CPU over time.

source? That's not the case unless LLC is jacked up.

happened to me on 97evo board. llc was off. got 1.5something volts
