Hey guys,
So it turns out my card probably had a faulty chip, it kept crashing on benchmarks and normal gameplay in 3 different systems with 3 different configurations, so it's currently in RMA. They already said I could replace it or get my money back if it indeed checks out to be a faulty chip. (The clerk already told me it was a known issue with the 780Ti's from Gigabyte but that they simply have to do the proper procedure to avoid getting into trouble themselves)
So the question remains, what do to from this point on. As it turns out, my faith in Gigabyte is kind of gone after having a motherboard dying on me (990FXA-UD5) and now this 780Ti as well. I might just have bad luck with them, but I'm not quite ready to take the chance yet again. Which brings me to the following questions:
1. Is this just an isolated Gigabyte card problem? Or is this happening throughout all 780's and Ti's? (I found 7 unique people complaining about Gigabyte 780's, and 780Ti's showing artifacts and crashing at stock clocks)
2. Seeing as Sapphire is going to release their 8GB variant of the 290x soon, and I'm going to play on 5760x1080 in the very near future, would it be better to wait for one of those or get a different brand of 780Ti? (I'm not expecting ANY increase of the 4GB extra on the current 1080p setup I have running)
3. If it is just the Gigabyte cards acting up, and the 8GB on the 290x won't really be worth it, what version of the 780Ti should I get? I'm aiming at STOCK clocks as I hate instability in my system.
Thanks ahead for your time.
