So do you guys prefer web-based email or email client in desktop to access your mail?

do you guys use desktop email client (e.g outlook, thunderbird) for personal email?

I use the gmail interface for all my email accounts. That way all my email is funneled into one spot that is synced with all my devices including phones, and all my calendar and contact information is also synced. The only reason I don't use outlook is there isn't an easy way to have it synced across multiple devices unless you have exchange(or hosted exchange).
^ +1 on This. I have a personal and work gmail accounts and it's easy to integrate and work them. I tend to use the web-based interface though.

You can with IMAP - though I note you did say "easy way". IMAP is not always that easy.

I've never found setting IMAP to be any more complicated than setting up POP3.

Me either. I don't think setting it up is the problem. It is using it. I have seen many having problems getting used to how emails are deleted (or not deleted) from the servers.

I'm shocked no one has yet to mention Yahoo mail, I've found their spam filter to be 100% accurate!

All spam emails will accurately go into your inbox 100% of the time.

Nope not here they don't, although it catches most.

I voted yes...:).

I have the same isp as Bill...cox. I use a pop3 account with Thunderbird for two e-mail addresses. A personal address and one related to my old financial work so colleagues/students can still get in touch if they want to ask questions. Works quite well.

I like to keep life simple. I'm used to Thunderbird and really like it. Between Waterfox, Thunderbird AND Bleachbit....I haven't been happier in a long time.

Best,

LC

That's nice, but none of that tells me how to get outlook to sync to all my devices. Remember, Outlook is more than just email, as I said in my first post you responded to.

You are absolutely correct. My apologies.

Many years ago, I used a Palm Pilot PDA and it would "hotsync" all my Outlook calendar events, contacts, tasks and even my password manager database. But not my emails. That was really nice. But Palm is no longer around.

Sorry, but I don't know how to sync all Outlook events to all devices either.
