Socket Pin Concern

Hi! I do not know if I should really be concerned about this but I thought I should share this with members online who may have the same problem. As you can see in the picture(and I am not so sure if it is clear enough for you to see), I have a burnt socket pin and a missing socket pin near it on the left-middle side. Should I be concerned about this? Or is it not a problem? I am going to place a Q6600 soon and I do not want any problems. Please let me know if you are experienced. Thanks so much and I am sorry for my bad English.

This is an Asus P5k Deluxe motherboard.

And one more question, what motherboard drivers should I be using? Should I be using the
nForce 680i SLI/680i LT SLI drivers? Thanks! I am sorry if I am asking too much.

Well, I had a similiar problem with two of my pins being bent and broke off. But it worked. Guess it depends on which pins are bent.

Just RMA it. It's a PK5, so it's still under warranty.

There is a decent chance it will still work. If the pins are grounds, you would be fine. But that shouldn't have happened, unless you were digging around in the socket with a screwdriver or something. It's obviously a defect, and should be returned.

I tested the board with an e6600 and it seems to be working fine. It doesn't seem to be faulty or any issues but I only had this board for a week so it is basically new. I am most likely going to return it for a new one. Thanks for answering my post. I appreciate your help.

One more thing, can I use the nForce 680i SLI/680i LT SLI drivers on the Asus P5k Deluxe? I tried installing it but the installing window kept exiting on me. I do not know why. May be I have the Display drivers installed before the MB driver?

*I just read the warranty policy. It will not let me replace if pins are damaged and one of mine was burnt. And since it's a working board and not a defective one, I will not be able to RMA. =(

*I tried searching online to see if the socket pins I have damaged are grounds but I have no luck finding it. Does anyone have a site I could go to? Thanks in advance if anyone is free to help.

No, you can't use 680i drivers on the PK5 Deluxe. You have to use the Intel drivers for your chipset. (P35)
