I have a GA-MA785GT-UD3H mainboard. Since I installed an OCZ Vector 128 GB SSD drive to SATA-0 port of this mainboard, in the place of my Western Digital HDD, computer started to freeze on boot after this message:

Verifying DMI Pool Data ................
AMD Data Change... Update new data to DMI!

I tried to change "OnChip SATA Type" to "ACHI", on "Integrated Peripherals" page on BIOS. This did not help.

When I reinstall my HDD to its old place, I still get the same message but computer boots and Windows 8.1 starts.

My SSD drive has the clone of the partition in my HDD.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just read that someone else had this same problem on another website. One of the answers was to simply press Enter or "Y" for yes. Not sure if this is any help as I have never had this problem myself. In all honesty I just did some Googling.

sounds like the cloning of your drive hasnt worked correctly. its trying to boot from the new drive, and its simply not succeeding.

i highly suggest a new OS install, and not to clone.

^ In response to that. Mussels could he do what I did a few weeks ago? I simply backed up ONLY my C drive. None of the other smaller partitions like backup or anything like that. After doing so, I installed a fresh copy of windows 8 and after that was installed restored the C drive. This way I could have a working boot and still keep my files.

Thank you for your replies. As Mussels suggested, cloning was not a right decision. Yesterday I reset my BIOS by removing battery for 10 minutes, then loaded optimized defaults from BIOS, then installed Windows from scratch to my SSD drive. It worked. I still see that message during boot process, however it is not a problem.

Generally speaking, when going from a HDD to an SSD, you should not clone. The reason is the SSD Trim command if I remember correctly, which helps to prolong the life of the drive. From SSD to SSD and from SSD to HDD is ok though.

I used Paragon SSD to HDD and it worked fine. It just copies one to the other, and it just works.

I've got this software and I'll second that it's very good.

+1 for Paragon. Useful tool for storage management.
