There is a tonne of info about this tech and it's nearly impossible for anyone to know it all.
IT is industries within industries and on top of that, they are constantly evolving so NO DOUBT it IS impossible, not "nearly" impossible, for anyone to know it all. Also, because these industries are constantly evolving, it is very likely what was a concrete fact of life 10 or even 5 years ago may no longer be true. This is a hard concept for many old-timers to accept and grasp. For example, what was common practice with XP to make it run better or more secure may actually be detrimental to performance and security with today's modern operating systems.
I started with IS/IT support in 1971 and if there has been one constant I have learned (repeatedly) over the decades it is that the more I learn, the more I realize there is
yet to learn. That is part of the beauty of these forums - it is a gathering place where folks with expertise from many areas of IT, some very obscure, come and share what they know.
I love helping people with their hardware, security and networking problems and purchasing decisions, but the reward I get (besides an occasional "thanks") is I get to learn something new almost every day. And at my age, that's a good thing.
Though I have to say, learning everything there is to know about my new-fangled smart phone is not something I enjoy, nor am I in any hurry to master either. It's a phone and that's how I use it. The paranoid Luddite in me prevents me from moving all my secure computing tasks (shopping, banking, etc.) to my smart phone. That won't happen until they pry my full-size keyboard, mouse and two large widescreen monitors (and surround sound speakers) from my dead hands.
