(Some) games crashing to desktop during first loading

Better try to repair with the DISM command first. The website you've linked is for full paranoïd mode users :D no offense heh :D
Every updates are supposed to be "safe". If you want more "safety", better delay the updates, wait the people "test" the updates, if the updates are somehow broken your windows won't download them because they would be removed from windows update the time you are supposed to download them.
Yeah, this is pretty much not true. MS sends borked updates quite frequently. Thats the whole reason so many W10 Pro users delay their updates...to allow them to be Quality Control tested by the masses and for any fixed updates to be cycled in.

That’s why Ask Woody has a successful website. People want to know if any of the recently released updates have problems. Otherwise Windows Update will gladly download them for you, broken or not.

TInyWall will block windows updates from checking for updates. I'm sure there are a/v programs that will do the same thing. Couple that with delays and you never get an update until you want to.

What is the service that connects to the internet to make sure activation of windows itself is good to go? I believe it checks every two weeks? So that would need to be allowed through TinyWall, do you know what it is called?

it might be in the FAQs on the website.

On another note for this thread for some reason I cannot get the Division 2 to run on my PC. The game starts fine but after loading I run for a while and then the game just shutdowns. I have no idea what the issue is as this is the only game that exhibits that behaviour.

Did you try with Direct X 12 Off ?

Welp! Fresh installed Windows 1909. Wish me luck boys.

And yes games are now playable. There's nothing a coat of fresh install won't fix.

worry not, you can also rollback in no time, 1803 always there for you, anyway goodluck :toast:

What's sad is that has been true for decades and is still true..
I've resigned myself to frequent reinstalls so much I moved the user folders to a different partition that I never format. Rebinding them after each reinstall is a pita specifically considering I have two accounts on the PC. But at least I don't have to move them frequently like before.
