Someone run games on AMD BC-250 under Linux * Cut down PS5 die to 6 CPU cores 24 GPU cores for use in crypto mining

Hi friend

Here is an alternative method for cooling a BC-250: https://x.com/Pt_Kangaroo/status/1844849832810414483

Wraith stealth coolers + 1:2 fan splitter, thermal putty (or paste would work too) and some thick cable ties.

Just use the second law of thermodynamics to the advantage of the BC-250.

One wraith stealth worked fine too, to be honest.

It works fine for dual cpu/gpu mining and triple (cpu/gpu/gpu) mining and it is quiet.

His are packed at more than double the density of those, that's why I said it needs a lot of airflow, like any server rack does. He needs either a bigger case, or to remove half of them to be able to cool with conventional (consumer grade) solutions. Slapping any higher pressure 120mm fans onto each heatsink could work too I guess, if there's enough space between them, that is.

Did some experiments with cooling.

I tried a specially made 3D printed case with a 5000 RPM 120mm fan, but that was way too loud.

Next, I attacked the top of the heatsink with some flush cutters and put some of my old Arctic F12 fans on it. That worked, but the Arctic fans weren't moving enough air through the heatsink, so temps were pretty bad.

So I grabbed some Thermalright TL-B12 fans, which are pressure-optimized, and so far, this is the solution I like the most.

Temperatures are about the same as the old Dell blower fan, but it's a hell of a lot quieter. Plus, I think it kinda looks cool.

With the fans maxed out, it stabilizes around 77C in Baldur's Gate 3 at 4K and max settings.

Nothing like the old good deshroud ways with zipties. Both function and form in your case.

Does anyone have tried to install Steam OS from the official Steam Deck recovery on this?

I'm looking to purchase one of these boards. If I end up finding one, I'd like to test it with Steam OS HoloISO, which I have installed on an AMD miniPC.

BTW for those in the future. Fedora 42 works out of the box! No recompiling the driver needed!
I received my board and installed Fedora 42 using compatibility mode. But I don't know how to enable the graphics driver afterward. After rebooting th system installed in the SSD still having low res (Using a DP to HDMI adapter)

EDIT: On my second attempt at running the driver installation script, it worked. I also noticed that the adapter DP to HDMI I'm using, provides audio output.

The next step is to improve cooling.

Just joined the club today and of course it's always something.

When I power up all I get is full fan and solid lights (2 blue buttons and the one by the eth port is solid red), no output to display but powering on does wake the display. Gonna try to swap the power supply but any thoughts based on the symptoms?

EDIT: Tried a brand new 500W PSU and still the same result. Emailed the eBay seller to see if the light pattern means anything to them since they have more listed and it says they're all tested working.
