I am wondering now that I don't game off the same SSD that I run Windows 10 off would it matter if the SSD I use for OS got 512mb or 1024mb of cache?

I am just asking because I am planing about selling off my Samsung 960 Evo 250GB and use my Samsung 850 Evo 250GB instead for Windows 10 it got 512mb ram for cache or would it be better to use the Samsung 850 Evo 1TB with 1GB of ram cache or it wouldn't matter on a daily basics?

Personally I think there is more going on here than just cache. Look at the whole drive rather than just that one spec.

Keep the 1TB with 1024MB cache and ditch the 250GB drive

if you want to test them to see if there's any difference try one of the many SSD bench marking programs available online free

but normally a drive with more cache will perform better than one with half the amount

@Athlonite both SSD's are rated for the same read/write limitation on the SATA 3 port so only difference there could be can be cache if one have better average speed than the other.

Both ssd's uses the same Samsung MGX controller and read/write same speed 540/520 MB/s only 2 things that are difference other than the space are 97000 IOPS for the 250GB version and 98000 IOPS for the 1TB version and 512MB vs. 1GB cache.

There;s also the SLC cache for the EVO that you have to consider, if we;re strictly talking about DRAM cache then that's usually matched with the SSD (or HDD) capacity & as such has no major impact on the performance of either drives.

In my experience both the 250 GB as well as the 500 GB Samsung 850EVO both are very capable although they do have the exact same cash size which is half a gigabyte

The cache size for them is roughly:
125gb- 250mb
250&500gb- 500mb
1tb- 1024mb

You wont notice a difference... :)
Finally! I kept waiting as I read through this for someone to say IRL the difference isn't noticeable. :)

Bottom line is very, very few people will notice any difference in SSD's without benchmarks to tell them so.

I kinda have it with SATA vs NVME ssd right now in daily usage like net surfing i really can't feel a difference and with all my games running of another ssd I can't really complain.
