Hi!

I think i have made a mistake. i read a post a long while back saying that Sandforce SSDs are able to run in RAID0. Ever since, i have been wanting to upgrade.

I have now sold my Samsung SSD and bought 2 OCZ Vertex 2.

Spoke to a friend just as i waas formatting the old SSD and he said that I will get a maximum of 300MBps in RAID0 with my motherboard. Is this true?

I know i should have asked here before i purchased, however, the thought did not cross my mind!!

So, is it worth me putting them in RAID 0 (i.e. Will i get the 400+ MBps?) or should i just put the second one into the Laptop?

THANKS!

As erocker said you should see the boost as your not using one sata port but two. I get a tad over 500Mbs with mine.

vertex 2 50gb + 60gb RAID 0... both on the SATA II ports of my mobo, idk why it messed up on the 1024, usually doesn't

SATA is 300Mbps per port. RAID0 with 2 drives uses 2 ports, so a theoretical maximum of 600Mbps.

Amazing. setting it up now. Thank you all for the answers.

You may need to install the Intel Matrix Storage Manager(if your using a ICH10R chipset. Also check to see if write back cache is enabled.

500MB/s is blazing fast, just make sure to back up everything I've had 3 arrays drop out unexpectedly.

I only install my games on the SSD setup. If i lose, anything, its all backed up online / on backup disc.

Reading at 536MBps with HD_Speed. Modern Warfare 2 took 1 min 35 seconds to install from an Image. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

Another quick question good people.

Partitioning the SSDs that is already in RAID0, good idea? bad idea? Will the performance deteriorate? If so, what time frame?

I thought, OS on one partition and the games on the other.

No point in partitioning it.

Had no issue's with mine although only make mine 50%\50% or less for second partition so no 30%\70%

Not true makes life easier keeping your games installed on another partition and come format they don't get touched :). Let alone less wear due to formatting the whole drive over and over.
