Stalker 2 is out now and brings players back to the wasteland around the Chernobyl nuclear plant. Built using the cutting-edge Unreal Engine 5, it promises good graphics, but also high hardware requirements. In our performance review, we'll look at the game's graphics quality, VRAM consumption, and how it runs across a range of contemporary graphics cards.

"Can it run Crysis Stalker 2??"

"We used the public Steam version, which includes a 140 GB Day One Patch"

the game itself it around 150 GB on install

Maybe wrong settings if it looks like fallout 76 haha.

Yes, it's almost a full redownload (but only if you had the press build)

Nope, I checked and rechecked

I was watching some 4090 footage of it being extremely cpu limited in the town hub area dropping below 60fps. Outside of town it doesn't seem too bad just typical UE5 heaviness.

Thanks for the performance benchmark W1z

They claim that GTX 1060 6 GB is enough for 30 fps on 1080p low. I wish any reviewer put that claim to a test.

Edit:
"VRAM
Our VRAM testing shows that Stalker 2 is very well-behaved in terms of VRAM usage. Even at 4K you're barely hitting 10 GB; lowest settings runs at around 6 GB, so virtually all cards can handle the game without problems"

Yet there's not a single video card tested with less than 8GB of VRAM..:wtf:

Well... tbh Chernobyl/Pripyat looks bleak in most places and is pretty much boring... I've been there in person, so well... it is what it is... considering some places are stamped 1:1 at such precision, I had many deja vu moments.

1060 is not enough even if it can run it at 30 FPS ... because unlike consoles, PC games are not well optimized so you can't have Steady 30 FPS and in most areas you'll have random FPS drops :)

And 30 FPS is just the limit for the human eyes ... even 2-3 FPS drop you'll feel it !!!

This is a game worth upgrading for. More vendors need to bundle this game instead of the shovelware they're currently offering.

Not when said upgrade is really only needed because its not very well done on a technical level.

With not much difference between High and Epic in the screenshots, the +20% performance makes High a pretty good choice if you're using a 4060/6700 XT at 1080p or 6800XT/3070 at 1440p. LOL or a 4080/Super at 4K.

Currently running a 9800x3d and a overclocked/undervolted 7800xt and averaging around 70fps with only dips to 50fps in the villages at high settings with fsr on quality at ultrawide 1440p and having a great time.

I'll wait a year and only when/if it has mods

Just a data point, I'm playing with a PNY 4090, 64GB DDR5-6000CL30 and a 7800X3D at 3840x1600. I run with DLSS Quality, no frame gen.

In town and some other NPC heavy areas, the GPU usage will drop to 75%-85% usually. I've seen occasional 'half' GPU usage, but it's usually pretty consistent in that 80% range. Outside of these areas it's pretty consistent near pegged to 95-100%.

I would love to see a TPU CPU comparison for this game :).

DLAA with FG , hope you review soon!

I remember when a 3080 was the “must have card for 4K gaming”

Now it’s the must have card for choppy 1080p gaming with upscaling!

What a heavy to run game... my godness. This will need future hardware for sure. Considering how 5070 wont be faster than 4090... perhaps this game will run smoothly for everyone with an RTX 6070. Hardly anyone gets the 80 and 90 tier cards. Thats just a fact. I know here everyone has a 4090 but yea ;p At our retail store, i see 0 sales of these cards in a pretty big country too. The majority of gamers go for 60-70. 60 and 70 wont cut it for this game. Cya in 2028 Stalker 2 gamers?

I mean, you dont buy a 800 bucks card to play at 1080p, (no joke, they cost that much here) and to also lower settings and STILL have lag and weird min fps.

There is Option

This benchis not 100% rock hard fact because Options, 3070 =100fps not bad. and looks good
