It would be cool to put a smaller ship like the 300i next to the freelancer and on the other side the Constellation. Actually I wouldn't mind seeing them all next to each other smallest to biggest. Ok I'm down to either the Avenger or the 300i.. hehehe Help! I'll buy in today.

The cargo space did it for me, and I prefer the look.

I would say 300i and then get an Avenger in-game if you still want one. They're a bit bigger than the 300i, allowing for a heavier loadout and more cargo, but they've also been described as "clunky" and "sluggish." It should also be noted that the Avenger was originally going to be a trainer ship, making it easy to pilot, but lacking some of the features/draws of the other ships.
They're both cool, but as a lone starter ship, the 300i is probably the better choice here.
Another thing to keep in mind is that you'll earn enough credits in S42 to either buy a starter ship or outfit a ship you already have. That could be the deciding factor, as a loaded Avenger may just be a force to be reckoned with.

Looking at the variants the max is obviously a cargo hauler, mis is a combat missile boat and dur is the explorer variant (more fuel storage, sensors on front and comms array on front). Nice find - I'd forgotten to tear through the ship files for this patch.

Oh and the silver circular dome on top level with the gun positions is the right size for a covered docking port (was wondering where they'd add it).

Not in the current release. They did say they were going to add the ability to join multiple orgs relatively soon (next release of orgs stuff IIRC).

Will we be able to actually pick a role for our player, like a character class? I think it would be cool if we wear able to role some digital D&D dice to get our stats. Just an old school wish.

We'll probably be able to give ourselves a title like that and wear the clothes to make the part, but there won't be any kind of stats for your playable character.

I would think having player stats would futher emerse the audience even further. Having players broken down into classes with attributes would futher indulge the player into the vastness of a space simulatuion.

We as the player character want to futher exist within the simulations within life.

The flyby doesn't really do it justice. The Cutlass turned out a bit bigger than I expected when it was finally added, and the Constellation still dwarfs it.

Yeah, the TPU crew is a lot of fun to game with. I used to play L4D with a group from here, and it was a blast (sometimes literally, you may recognize some of these names ).

The point was to not have player stats, so that everyone, be it their first hour or second year of play, has to rely on skill. That, and this isn't an RPG in the genre-sense of the term, more like the DnD "you're in your character's shoes" RPG. The real "character customization" comes in the form of your ships. In other words, your character is simply an avatar. You, as a player, learn your skills and trade and apply that knowledge to better outfit your ships and suit your play style.
