I predict that with this Alpha being the most lucrative in history, and generating more income than the sale of any finished product, that this game will always be in development just to give a reason to fuel the addiction of DLC Ship Fiends.

Eve is going to have a Free To Play character that normally is the Death Knell for an MMORPG.
Should Star Citizen come to be what was described, it will be an Eve Killer if CCP isn't forced to shut down it's servers sooner.

I can buy one in a pre-sale at a discount but I'm done spending money and I think I'm done bothering melting and swapping with new ships. Either way, this is a ship I want to buy in game, looks cool and it also looks like it has large doors on the top that could maybe fit four of those Gladius's in it! Heh, I want that RSI fuel truck too.

Looks very cool, and it will hold one fighter/attack ship. I agree, I'll keep my money in my wallet for now and earn this in game. Even discounted to $625 seems a bit much at this point. Now if the 890J comes around again I may be in trouble...

You can look forward to bashing them, I'm pretty happy with the progress they are making and the features they are adding. They are taking the time to get things right instead of rushing out a half-baked PoS to some arbitrary schedule set at the start. They have PLENTY to show for what they've done so far, and the items they are taking extra time to develop and polish make sense. Their communication and involvement with the fans is unparalleled. There's a place for just about everyone. Haters can sit back and throw stones, doubters can keep their money in their wallet until release, interested parties can contribute at a very reasonable level and enthusiasts can dive in headlong.

They have re-recorded that playthrough without commentary and uploaded a 60fps version now:

It does miss the end of the citcon presentation where they showed the tooling, but the higher framerate does let you notice things like the landing gear compressing more easily.

Yeah saw this earlier and its impressive, but I cannot seem to shake that No Man's Sky vibe. Land here, find waypoint, shoot three mobs, move on to next waypoint. Really hope the game has more on offer than this. However, it does show a LOT of underlying tech that is working well, which is what I really wanted to see.

I'm just praying that Star Citizen will be the game that pushes me to upgrade my system. So far I've not seen demanding games that I've found it worth doing that for... and the upgrade itch is itchy. Release the damn thing already

The point was to show the tech. The "mission" was just thrown together to demonstrate the V2 planet.

They still have some serious performance issues to work out but I am definitely happy with the progress lately. Not so happy about how the game caters to rich kids.. $750.00 for a ship is ridiculous. Just means when the game starts, only rich people will have tons of awesome ships.. Pay to win..

Regardless, when I played the PU demo instance it was similar. You fly off to a waypoint, there's an encounter, quest complete, hand in. Not that the missions themselves can't be fun, but it was nothing new.

I think it's very possible when we're all in the released game and people start seeing others just picking up ships in game, there's going to be a few people watering space with their tears thinking they actually had a ship worth that much money. Hehe.

I've not played this game in well over a year.. for no other reason than to be wow'ed when I play it again... hehe I downloaded it the other day, but I'm waiting for the next big update. I watched the video today and it's looking really good. I'm actually kind of waiting for VR support.. but I know that's a long way off.

Actually, I think the business model of selling early access DLC ships will continue after release. These will ostensibly be for funding new content.
