My last build had the motherboard die. I was using intel's raid. I have a new motherboard and believe the raid can be easily recovered. However, I want to replace the system. I know what the basic component list will be. I do not play games rather compute in CAD with Solidworks. I use Nvidia quadro. Given your experience with CAD, would you get an x99. I don't know about Zenon so input on that as well please. I will get a raid card this time. Prefer not to go with a server or NAS for storage. Thanks if you have an opinion as a CAD solidworks user.

I'd say if you were going the HEDT route, then you would probably want to look into X299 instead of the dead X99.

so long as the raid controller didn't write a bunch of garbage on its way out then it should be as simple as import array
if you do a lot of workstation stuff that needs many-threads I would look into x299 as suggested or perhaps amd thread ripper platform
