SteelSeries, the leading manufacturer of premium-quality, competitive gaming peripherals and Ignite Game Technologies, creators of groundbreaking auto racing platform Simraceway, today introduced the Simraceway SRW-S1 Steering Wheel, an affordable, high-performance PC controller that aims to open up a whole new racing world to players frustrated by the limitations of joypads.

A handheld hybrid racing controller that combines the features and functions of a high-end wheel with the portability and convenience of a joypad, the SRW-S1 includes a motion-sensor for steering and a patent-pending throttle and brake paddle system for a fully simulated driving experience without the need for floor pedals.

LOL they cant be serious with this design.

It reminds me of them toy steering wheels you get for your kids that flash and make a lot of noise when they press a button on it made by companies like playskool or fisherprice.

I mean, cool a steering wheel but that design is just lol...

---

On a more serious note - I know that F1 drivers use a similar style wheel with less bottons on it - all the buttons on it makes it seem like something you'd give to a 3year old to keep him quiet.

from the website ...Good find Bta Thanks dude :toast:

Used by the Pros

The SRW-S1 Steering Wheel has been tested and approved by professional racing drivers including four-time IndyCar Series winner, Dario Franchitti and double Indy 500 Champion, the late, great and much missed, Dan Wheldon << (Amen to that ) as well as SimRacing stars, David Greco and Bruno Marques.

know that F1 drivers use a similar style wheel with less bottons on it

Pointless. It's just a gamepad with an accelerometer. You're not holding your car steering wheel in mid air either and as such it's crap to use. The feel is just not the same. Also imagine driving long rally routes where you drive for 15 minutes. Or long circuit races. The arms need to rest on the steering wheel, holding it in mid air is just lame.

Like this maybe? :rockout:

I would love so much to have it, but I already own a G25 which is amazing too and that one is just too expensive... It's probably worth every penny tho, the G25 costed a mini-fortune too and it's totally worth it.

People who have never played with a wheel like that know nothing. It makes me laugh everytime someone tells me racing games are better on consoles because of the analog stick, dual-shock and such.

Wait, what are controllers for? I have no XBOX 360 but I have an X360 controller for my PC, and just recently received a Razer Onza :D

But yea, wheels are amazing, and yes, that looks like an awesome wheel :p

Oh yeah, motion sensor based steering, since nobody uses the analog sticks on a DS3 anymore.

F1 cars have far more complicated steering wheels. including setting brake balance etc.

they design it pretty well but the upper part of the wheel looks like a toy with many buttons, they should add led for rpm meter or small lcd for displaying the track and info

The first thing I thought was, this looks like a toy for a toddler but then again I can't see this being a full sized wheel due to not being attached to anything mounted to the computer desk.

There would be plenty of sore arms if it was a full size wheel.
