I've had a MSI 770-C35 MoBo for about a yr and sometimes (very occasionally) when I shutdown, the computer makes a sound like it's crashing. I've used 2 different cpu's, 2 different psu's, 3 different video cards and have up-dated every bios it has had to no avail. It happens when overclocked and at stock. I've tested it with Prime and Memtest and both of them ran without issue. The problem computer is rig 3 below.

Is it the motherboard and what should I do?

like a beep or buzz or something coming from the pc speaker ?
mine does that is the fan speed sensor telling you the fan as stopped because the machine is powering down or it could be the HDD's spinning down idk if its stable ignore it

'sounds like its crashing' is just way too vague.

Hard drives have a tendency to make weird sounds when powering down.

I would go with the hard drive issue. I had a drive which made a sound of something fell to a ground and stop. Drive tested fine in the benches, worked flawlessly, but returned just because of the sound.

My C-45 does the same thing
It's done it with 3 types of memory 3 cpu's and 3 different Video cards...
I think it's just something that this Mobo does (c-35 is the same as the c-45 they just put a stcker that says C-45 over top the C-35 that is printed on the Board)
I say don't worry about it if it dies get a new one

Let me guess it sounds like a muffled gurgled ERRRRRRRRR then it stops right?

Mine beeps on power down, but it comes from my Aerocool FP-01 fan controller. It's like rjc862003 said, it beeps the alarm for half a second before completely shutting down, because the fans are already on very low RPMs or off.

Could be but it's a clicking sound and only crash sound i have heard is when the sound has gotr stuck in a loop.

Used to have 7 HDDs (just 5 now ) and it is freaky sound as you heard them shutdown faster after or with each other. It's got a few wiered looks of my wife lol.

Man, it's hard to read a sound but your description sounds about right and the fact that it happens to your board makes me feel better. Nothing bad happens because of it so I won't worry too much. It doesn't crash during regular use just when I shutdown. There is a new bios for it (1.7). I'm gonna give that a try and see if it helps.

Thanks for your suggestions everyone.....:respect:

I'm on 1.7 myself it still does it
BTW you have to use M-Flash (in the Bios) and a USB drive or SD card to load 1.7

Ya, I got it at 1.3 and have tried everyone since than. I'm going to send them (MSI) an e-mail to see what's up with it. Have you tried overclocking with your C-45?

Yeah The HT link (fsb) is good up to 250 if the cpu can take it.. But that's the max it will go

Could it be the mobo shorting out on the case??

I think if that were the case he'd have more serious problems than an occasional funny sound during shutdown.
