Sorry for all the problems with my internet!
As you can probably see from my sig my internet has the ability to be very fast, the actualy wires are fibre. However I am subject to some very harsh filtering, every service that is not http on port 80 is limited to 2Mb, if I download a game from steam, if I get a file from ftp, download from https, get an app off itunes etc, bascially anything that is probably legitimate. (Dare I start a torrent and I would get 0.2Mb but that's another story and one I don't mind). On top of that any connection to servers too far away (ie west coast US, I'm in UK) get 2Mb.
So you can see my predicament, on the one hand I have blissful 100Mb speed if a game is downloadable by http from europe, and I get it within 5 mins if its 3GB. On the other I have to wait for longer to get CS:S off steam than my parents do in the countryside on their 3.5Mb connection!
What I'm wondering is can you think of anyway to get around this? Not for torrents mind you, just for normal stuff. If I set up a ftp server on port 80 would it fix the problem or would the filter pick up on the fact it's the wrong type of data and throttle still?
