Streacom showed off a unique new prototype case, which you can place upside down or downside up in tower orientation; or even either ways in pedestal orientation; and the case would still maintain its rigidity and design. The unnamed prototype is made of 4 mm-thick aluminium panels, and can seat ATX motherboards, with standard ATX-type PSUs. The case lacks air vents in all its panels, except the top and bottom. The PSU bay vents out on the panel. It comes with a rail system, just like the F12C, which allows for plenty of hard drives to be installed without the need of drive bays. The same parts may be used for pumps or reservoirs. The case prototype looked nearly finished even though it was hand-made, and when released later this year, could cost anywhere between $250-300.

It looks like a poorly made PowerMac.

And I'm not even a fan of PowerMacs....

Um, upside down and downside up are the same thing. So this case works only upside down? :P

If you turn it upright, you'll probably slice yourself on the sharp edges. Legal probably doesn't allow them to support that feature.

Guessing neither of you have ever really seen a Streacom case in the flesh, 4mm extruded AL (thicker than a MAC :p) with zero sharp edges. they are crazy in term of material usage. Nobody is doing anything even close on their quality, don't understand what you guys are on about.

IIRC there are few asian companies like that years ago, not sure if it's the same company. Making case with really high quality and expensive material but it suffers from bad taste in design.

It sure looks like china not-even-close-knock-off of mac G5.

Don' think i have ever seen an uglier case.

ghetto made power mac G5?
not even close ... :laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:

Has potential to be the most silent case in the world in it's class. Fantastic case without all those chicken farm venting mesh on 6 sides.

And it is a PROTOTYPE, not finished...

This is just a prototype, so it's not going to have the finished quality.

Streacom makes top quality cases. They are admittedly for a niche market, but the designs are innovative, and quality is top notch.

I have an HTPC in my master bedroom using the F1C Evo with an AMD A8-7600 running in 45W mode.

...I see a lot of potential..... looking forward to seeing fin the final product.

Looks like a young artist's concept of a "futuristic PC case" in a high-school art class assignment in 1970. And this was the winner somehow... I do like the thick aluminum panels, but I'd prefer them more in the shape of the Phanteks Evolv ATX

Awesome!

So much painting potential there.

A stylish design and i would made it into a horizontal position added a large window at the top and adding holes on both sides for larger radiators 3x 140mm. Well those are my thoughts.

I`d love a case like that with a silent card like a 970 Strix and good low noise air cooler, or just do watercooliong I guess

hopefully the front is nicer in the final product though

Show me one that makes or made anything close, and I don't mean just the looks when you squint, 4mm AL, I dont think so. Hell anything that is rectangular and clean looking is going to get that same comment, maybe its not trying to be a knock off which is why its 'not-even-close' ..... you are thinking Prodigy :p thats a rip off that does really well.

Not sure if any PC guys ever really used the G5 case, but those feet/handles used to get bent, no risk of that happening here, and airflow was front to back with a kind of ugly mesh on the front, this looks like its down to up, seems an improvement to me.

Design is kind of personal, there are actually people out there that dont want something that looks like it belongs in a teenagers bedroom.

Sounds like someone has a personal interest here. You'd have to be blind or brain-dead to not realize how ugly this case is.

I like the case..

would not mind to see better photo's before making judgement.

Google Soldam / Windy (already bankrupt). It's all the rage for high quality case 10 years ago. Personally I think it's ugly but people love its thickness and precision built (there's some kind of fans club in many hardware forums, look at it).

4mm alu isn't that rare. Silverstone Tj-07 main structure is made of 8mm Alu (4mm at the curve) from single block alu although the side panel is 2mm. IIRC older CoolerMaster ATC210/211 has 5mm alu and even 10mm at some parts.

Also don't get me wrong, I like square case more than fancy one, but this particular streacom simply looks messy.

Because "looks" are objective right?

yes, blind or brain dead, well done, what an excellent way carry forward this discussion. Get back to me when you grown up and learn to have respect for people who have disabilities. Personal interests yes, I happen to like cases that don't look like they are for people still living with their parents.

OK, the TJ-07 wins on thickness, even if thats only on part of the case, but its still a punch process, not extrusion and uses the same frame concept which all other steel cases use. As for Streacom looking messy, if anything its too simple, and they are known for being minimal, doesn't even have any exposed bays, so I just dont get your point on that.

Doesn't Apple have a patent on that color? If this thing takes off then Apple will sue!.. hehe But seriously when I first seen the pictures I thought Apple was unveiling a new G# series desktop. Not saying it's a bad design, because I liked the looks of the G5's. The only thing that gives it away that it's a pc is the i/o plate on the back and the 2x USB3 on the front. Streacom should have painted it black or even a dark gray, but I believe they knew what they were doing...

I must have this.
