The majority of what's worth upgrading to isn't easy to buy.... A 3060 ti/3070/6800 would all be pretty nice improvements but this really comes down to your budget as all of these are quite a bit more expensive than what you currently own.

Nothing currently in the 200-300 usd range is worth upgrading to.

As @oxrufiioxo said, the current line-up of GPU ain't easy to find in stocks. Of course, this depends on your region & if you know where to look.
Let's start off easy first. Which region are you in & how much are you willing to spend?

Don't buy new gpu at this time, because they are overpriced. Hold for 2-3 months to see what will happen with prices. Currently sitting without pc for few months only because of gpu and cpu prices are totally grubbish.

I'm confused. So do you want a new GPU or a new monitor or both? And $400 for just the monitor? What about the GPU?

First you need to decide if you want to go 1080p 144/165hz vs 1440p 144/165hz depending on your choice the gpu demands are quite different once that is decided you can look at what performance you're looking for gpu wise and save up for that but you'll definitely want a 3060 ti min for 1440p high refresh gaming and it can range from 400-500 usd just for the gpu leaving you 300 usd or less for a monitor.

200-250 USD is good budget for 1080p 144hz IPS gaming monitors. The rest (500-450 USD) can be used to buy RTX 3070 or RTX 3060 Ti if you find any at stock or even MSRP.

AOC 24G2, Acer VG240YP, BenQ MOBIUZ EX2510, ASUS VG249Q, ASUS VP249QGR are my monitor recommendation.

As for the cards you gotta fight for it. Best option would be finding a Founders Edition which are usually sold at MSRP from the physical stores. Otherwise start refreshing, signing up Discord servers or use one of those live stock checker youtube channels. Realistically I'd advise to wait till 2021 when stock issues normalize tbh.

The brand shouldn't matter. The specs matters most.
So what sort of monitor specs do you want to go for?

Nope, LG make panels themselves so their monitor are very competitively priced. Their UltraGear lineup are pretty much the best stuff you can buy today.
For example LG 34GN850-B, 27GN850 and 27GN950 are all best in class monitors.

They make really good monitors and also poor ones just like any other brand. Specifically their nano ips monitors are some of the best period.

Yeah the 27GN950 is an 4k 144hz IPS display, it's the cheapest 4k 144hz too.

I'm looking for the 144Hz 4k and even though the LGN950 is a best buy at this point you can get, considering price/performance and visuals I decided to skip this one. It is the best you can get but it does lack in other areas if you compare 1440p screens and what they offer. LG panels are great but the 4k high refresh still lacks and it is best to wait for new gen and price drops. At least that is the conclusion I got watching reviews. The price the last time I checked for that one is $1k which is not so bad but still a lot.

I'd suggest watching the Hardware Unboxed monitors reviews. You have a range of 1080p, 1440p to 4k and ultrawide screens summary for the best buy and price points. It's a real eye opener and I strongly recommend watching it. You will know what to expect and they do have some inputs about the price and performance etc. Link below.

For the GPU I'd go with the used one 2000 series NV or 5000 series AMD if you wanna go with 1440p monitor. Mostly due to price for the new gen cards but you can also wait a bit and maybe at some point next year the prices will go down with improved availability for the new gen cards

The 27GN950 is priced at 800usd but yeah 27in is too small for 4k display, I would love to buy a 32in 4k 144hz IPS display, which doesn't exist yet. I also wouldn't own an 4k without at least an 3080 or the upcoming 3080 Ti, 3090 is even better.
I currently have the LG 34GN850-B and it should be the best monitor for almost every usage scenario.

I currently have an LG 27UD69 UHD 60Hz and I can't complain about the size of the screen which is 27 inch. For me it is pretty much my spot but that depends on individual preference.

There are too many monitors on the market. Why do you choose LG?
