Just wonder if there is any kind soul that can help.

I have been having the pop up window from SAV stating that there is a thread found, named dialer.dialplatform.

I have made many attempts to figure out how to get rid of it, including updating the signature file for SAV, however, seems like SAV is not doing anything much about it!

Is there any alternative method(s) that someone can help?

I can't affort to format my drive, so this will be the least preferred method.

TIA!

Sounds like it's spyware, I would suggest that you download for free the Lavasoft Adaware SE from here:

http://www.lavasoftusa.com/

This is particularily good at diallers which are common place these days and have casued be some problems in the past.

Sometimes even the best software can only detect them but not actually delete them, if thats the case in this instance then Adaware will tell you exactly where the little monster is, you should then be able to disconnect from the net (so its not active) and go into windows explorer and delete the creature.

Hi All,

Really thanks for all the helps.

I finally managed to get rid of the dialer.dialplatform thing.

It is a little tricky, and to show my appreciation, I will just try to document what I had done, hope this can also help others who got into the same trouble I got previously:

1. Lavasoft's Adaware SE is not able to detect it.:shadedshu
2. I downloaded Panda, and indeed, it is a good piece of anti-virus/anti spyware/adware application. It can detect, but was not able to remove it totally.
3. I try restart into Safe Mode, and run Panda again, it was still not able to remove it, though it is stated as "disinfected" on the status.
4. I checked on the Detailed information provided by Panda after scan, and found the file in the following location: C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\F?nts\msconfig.exe
5. I tried to use DOS command (go through "Start", "Run", and type "cmd") to check the file under the directory, it did not show up.
6. I do an attribute check under DOS command (attrib *) and the file msconfig.exe shows up as a system and hidden file. (This explained why Panda was not able to remove it)
7. I use the same attribute command in DOS mode to remove the system and hidden attribute on msconfig.exe file under C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\F?nts\ directory (type in "attrib -s -h msconfig.exe")
8. I delete the command under DOS mode (type "del msconfig.exe")
9. I ran Panda scan (full system scan) again after the deletion, and it's gone for good!

Really thanks for all the pointers, and hope this can be served as my appreciation return to the supporters in this forum. :)

last time i had to repair a machine with panda on it, took me 4 hours to repair the registry, panda is the plague, every time i come in to contact with it, something horrid happens,

BTW, Tatty, how do you get those negative 3dmark scores ? :D
