Test 8 errors in Memtest86

Hey guys, I've been struggling with a problem with my laptop for about almost 2 weeks.

I am using an HP Victus 16 E1007NT model laptop.

No matter which game I am playing, it crashes in 15-20 minutes after launching with no errors. It just crashes to desktop.

I've tried so many things to solve it. I scanned my laptop for a few times to see if there was any malware or something else like that but the results are good, my laptop is safe. After that I removed my GPU driver with DDU and installed the previous driver but it didn't work, unfortunately. I also checked the temperatures but there is also nothing wrong with them. Both CPU and GPU are at good temperatures.

Finally I tried to do the Memtest86. 363 errors occurred in Memtest86 and all of them occurred during the Test 8 (Random number sequence). What does this Test 8 errors mean? What should I do?

And, the reason for my games to crash is these errors about my RAM? If not, what else can I do to solve this problem?

There's nothing to do. RAM is likely bad, so if it's under warranty I'd send it for repair. If it's out of warranty, maybe remove one RAM stick at a time and retest to identify the failing module.

I don't understand why you are even asking this. If the RAM fails MemTest it is bad, if the RAM is bad it needs to be replaced, if the laptop is in warranty you send it back to have that done, if not you pay for it yourself.

I would first clean the memory contacts then retest if out of warranty.

I don't know much about PC hardware, so I wondered if there was anything that I could do. Thanks for your reply anyway.

there’s just no reason to be obnoxious about it, especially when you’re wrong. i have the exact same issue and i replaced my ram and it didn’t get fixed.

I don't know much about PC hardware, so I wondered if there was anything that I could do. Thanks for your reply anyway.

my issue is with a pc but apparently the ram i have isn’t on the qvl for my motherboard so i had to begrudgingly turn down the speed and it works fine now. you can try reading about over clocking if you’re interested in attempting to fix the issue but u might as well make sure it isn’t just faulty ram

Looks like maybe a defective CPU, also you may get a false positive, if the core(s) are so unstable!

IIRC, I saw Himem.sys give a fatal error for RAM test failure with unstable CPU core OC, too, LOL.
It was likely one of those core OC attempts that were so unstable, that even the Windows loader spits out an error and doesn't load the kernel. (thinks the kernel file is missing or corrupted, much of the time!)

In plain terms, memory is bad. It has a physical defect in one of the ICs. We don't know which one but it appears to happen consistently in the upper half of system memory.

You're not going to solve this problem without replacing the physical memory modules.
I don't have good experience with anything Hynix. I'll get dogpiled for it but for my use cases it all looks like hot garbage.
Mushkin is preferred over it but that seems to be hit and miss as well, not advised.
G.Skill always seems to have pretty good overclockable memory and it's very chill at stock settings too. A bit inexpensive.
My most loved memory comes from Micron. Anything Micron/Crucial, the Ballistix tag is absolutely outstanding. Their DDR5 lineup also looks very cutthroat price. I'll bet this is selling like mad.

There is one thing bothering me about this loadout though:

There is a mismatched pair of memory in here. The timings aren't synced up, they're two different sizes and the part info on the second DIMM doesn't register and is probably some generic slop. I would pull it and run the memory test again.

what else can i do

Aside from pulling the defective stick from the system and running another memory test, maybe limiting the upper limit of memory access to Windows. It's not every day that msconfig does something useful but if you're not able to get physical access to the memory modules for whatever reason, you could try it and run another test.

Maybe 16384 to be safe.
