I dunno, I just got Red faction or whatever it's called as a freebie with Metro 2033, have not played it yet..... anyone know if it's any good? Is it even worth installing?

Other than that, I got a freebie copy of Deus Ex a few years back when buying another game as an in shop promo, I ended up spending more time playing Deus Ex.... it was brilliant.

IMO Gunbound is the most genuine completely "FREE" game out there that was original and unique. It entertained me and many of my friends both boys and girls back in high-school.

Can't forget the 1st release of Gunbound it was simple and plain fun!

Some of the modern flash games aren't too bad but I can't make any good recommendations of newer releases (isn't America's Army free?) -I miss the glory days of shareware though, when great games like Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, Duke Nukem, Commander Keen, etc. were available for free (at least the first episodes). Would you object to classic gaming through DOSbox? There's a ton of shareware/abandonware out there that should run well if you don't mind VGA level graphics

Someone else mentions Gunbound! It was a shame though when we had a Gunbound Philippines. Means that I can't play International anymore during high school. I don't know if it's still like that now though.

I still remember the Asia v. Europe games we have (Indonesia, Singapore, Japan, Philippines, Thailand v. England, France, the Netherlands, Austria, Germany). "We" because we're also a clan in some other game.

The Ur-Quan Masters is an open-source clone of Star Control 2, which is one of the best computer games ever created. If you've never played the original, try it. Even 18 years after it came out, it still has tons to offer and quite a few more modern games have borrowed concepts from it.

OpenTTD is an open-source clone of Transport Tycoon Deluxe, a really addictive transportation empire manager game back from the 90s. I still play it from time to time, it is just fun.

I played GunZ Online extensively... unfortunately it's riddled with hackers though. I had my level 62 character hacked away from me... I do have another account, but I rarely ever go on it. Sucks being a low level again.

The first Red Faction? Yeah, it's a whole hell of a lot better than the second (though that's not saying much), although I keep getting corrupted visuals (maybe because my VC is like 10,000x better than what they designed it for). I'd say go play it some, and most of the servers are filled with idiots that don't know how to play (just in case you want to get some serious killing in

).

Aside from that, I'm a fan of DDO.

uhh, there is a game called Warden Online. its not bad, actually. its mostly a guess-and-check game, but the higher your level and the higher your enemy's level, the more entertaining it gets. the game is based on the "warrior >> archer >> wizard" stats. this is just a pasttime.

the very BEST free game i have ever played would have to be Perfect World International. a free version of WoW.

I absolutely love Combat Arms for two reasons. It is absolutely free and the other reason I can not mention here because gamers hate these type of gamers. Hint Hint.
