The Official Magic the Gathering card game Rules, Questions, and General Discussion Thread

For a sense of what 100 cards double sleeved are size wise

I just hope someday Odyssey block and Onslaught block, or Ice Age, any of those older sets will come back in a time rewind standard format. So, just getting to relive our past I guess. Sealed Deck Judgement would be so fun, I never got to enjoy that even though I started with Judgement

I know it would probably never happen, but I'd pay money for this. Not like a remaster, literally just go back in time. Arena Draft/Sealed Deck events of all my fav old sets lol

here is a better way to see the comprehensive list I just found, easier to scroll:

@Princess Garnet I know you probably aren't interested, just thought I'd tag you anyway. New Final Fantasy Magic the Gathering crossover was revealed today, and here is the first card sleeve that was revealed: If anyone would appreciate it, I thought it might be you. Even if you don't play Magic the Gathering, you may want to consider giving the artwork a look, the art is always very beautiful and unique in Magic the Gathering.

I wouldn't recommend getting into Magic the Gathering though, its expensive, but if you just want to learn and enjoy the starter decks for FF are meant to play each other, $19 and it will have some cards from FFIX

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Magic-The-Gathering-Final-Fantasy-Starter-Deck-Set/15331414267? sold and shipped by walmart, $20 includes two Final Fantasy decks meant to face each other, I already pre-ordered one

I'm not sure how I will use Tidus counter moving ability, but it probably has potential I just can't think of yet. Maybe unblockable creatures, move counters to them.

I just wish all cards kept the same sigil for this expansion, i love the little baby chocobo sigil...

why it isn't used for all cards and this expansion has two sigils I do not understand, never seen this before, usually it is a single consistent one

some of my favorites so far from the comprehensive list:

Oh, thanks for mentioning it. If it involves Final Fantasy IX, there's always a chance I'll be interested!

I'm definitely not looking to get into a card game. They're not my thing. While collecting a select few might be slightly likely, the structure that card games are sold as doesn't accommodate that sort of thing.

It's coincidental you mention this because I noticed this a while back.

Yeah, I have seen they have their own card game now too. I think it looks a little lackluster compared to magic though, and the art work is not even close to the beauty of Magic the Gathering artwork.

@Vayra86

I really wish 2 headed giant and Emperor 1/1/1 mode would make a comeback, lot of good cards now that would help those formats, like this one: key word = ANY player and you draw. this would be great to add in to emperor, heal your flanks and you keep drawing heals

I really wish they went with the FFX looks for Shiva more... bleh, oh well.

So far the power level of this set seems to be on the low side. A few bombs. Its starting to look (and is;) like a standard oriented set. Don't overspend on it. Assassin's Creed also didn't make waves.

Cards have several sigils because you're getting spoilers from Commander: FF and FF standard. Its two sets, the commander decks and the booster set. The commander set cards aren't standard legal generally. And this also makes it impossible to collect them all, easily. Its also really not something you should be doing anymore. Wizards releases too much (and so much is completely skippable..).

Cloud is good btw. But an Equipment deck is hard to run without some support. Voltron-oriented for Commander... but as a commander he'd be a solo-white deck. Problematic :)
And the summons... yeah. Neat idea... but how often is a Saga-based creature with 3 stages going to attack you might wonder. Looks extremely inefficient (and therefore: unplayable or niche).
