How far should I turn the Pressure Vault screw on a HR02 (original "fanless" model)? It is the screw in the center that is turned with a wrench. CPU is a 3770K.

It says you crank down on it 40 lb but that's seams pretty tight

Thing is you can crank it down without feeling any resistance at all. You are supposed to screw the two posts down first then turn the pressure vault last. I am a bit underwhelmed with this cooler, it is only a few degrees better than my PHTC12DX and is double the size. I wonder if thats because I didn't turn the screw very far. I'm worried I'd ruin the lid of my processor or wreck my motherboard socket.

Read that review

"We recommend you use full pressure (40~70 lbs.) by turning that big ol' knob on the bracket with the supplied wrench all the way to its maximum. Then it's just a matter of tightening two screws and you are good to go.."

But double check the instructions

I read that, however the instructions from Thermalright are instead to tighten the two screws down first, then the knob. The knob exerts a scary amount of extra pressure so I just don't want to wreck my shit. I figured some of the users on here have tried this cooler or the similar mounting original Silver Arrow.

Well I remounted again, tightened it a few more degrees clockwise, seems like the way to do it is you start with the knob fully loose. When the two screws are tightened you turn the knob with your fingers until it stops. Then that starting point is 40 pounds of pressure. Turning it entirely over will yield 70 pounds of pressure.

My temps still seem rather poor, basically identical to the PHTC12DX.
