I'm getting my G-Sync monitor today.

I think I have to take the following steps:

  • Connect 1440p G-sync monitor with DP cable
  • Connect second 1080p 60Hz monitor by HDMI
  • Startup PC
  • Reinstall display driver
  • Restart PC (I always do that after display driver install)
  • Activate G-Sync in NV control panel (I believe also V-Sync is auto on after that?)
  • Set my 1440p monitor from 1080p to 1440p
  • Calibrate my 1440p monitor

Also ingame, I should turn off V-Sync?
Are there any problems running a second 60Hz 1080p monitor?

Is there anything else I should do/know?

I didn't ask these very good questions, you do. Bravo!

I just connected, no driver reinstalls.

I have not done changes in NV panel. Apart from activating G-sync. In games, yes I do deactivate V-sync. Most games, or as far as i know, run fine. (I do not play fast moving games like quake, but those folks have the most problems finetunning their rigs, apparently every microsecond counts in those fragfests)

Hmmm, ok so once the G-Sync monitor connected I have G-Sync options right away in the NV control panel?

OK.

Mine was autodetected and I believe if I remember well an nvidia message popped up.
In your case, with 2 very different monitors, maybe you should go the "detect" routine in the multmonitor section.

You don't have to re-install your driver...G-Sync will be automatically detected and it will let you know that you have to change the settings.

Yeh all G-Sync monitors get auto detected running DisplayPort if you have a newer driver ofc and it's always good to update the driver when there is a WHQL available.

dont forget to enjoy :D

+1
That's right.

No really, second monitor will automatically be detected.

Ok got it all connected and fired up my PC.

At first icons and text was blurry, found out I had to adjust the scaling to 100%, and all was good, I really enjoy the extra desktop real-estate!
My second 1080p monitor's text was to sharp and fiddled with some settings on the monitor itself and all good now.

I do have to get used to TN colors again , guess I was spoiled with IPS....:ohwell:

Did some GTA V gaming and it was a good experience, did not feel any fps drops, was all smooth playing at 1440p resolution so I guess G-Sync is working correctly.
I did notice my GPU runs hotter now, around 55 degrees now, when I tried GTA V at 1440p dsr @1080p it would run cooler then now, but hey 55~60 degrees isn't 80 yet!

All in all, have to get used to the colors but the first gaming experience was pretty good and smooth!!:D

Would do mind to sell me that Labello and the Duracell Batterie:p .

Joke.

Welcome to the 1440p master race :D ;)

Gsync just worked for me out of the box, I didn't have to set anything apart from turning it on in the Nvidia control panel.

If I have my computer on for days sometimes it stops working and I have to reset it by turning it off then on in the NV panel. This has never happened while gaming.

Looks nice, id like to see some photo's of in game if its not too much..................ENJOY!

Enjoy the panel! Gotta say it suits the KB in front of it really well :)

Good times , the extra heat's from your Rops ,they are actually filling more pixels.
You won't regret the upgrade.

Hmmm... I have noticed few(noticed 2 quick) stutters while playing GTA V for an hour or so....

Could be my CPU I guess.:ohwell:

Anyways the overall experience is very good, running GTA V just over 70fps @1440p most of the time.:)

You might still get the odd one with grass set very high in some areas and on occasions for level load in but not much.
Thats especially on gtaV it is ok but not the best optimized game , engine wise ,still can't beat it though take a plane out i spend hours just mooching n looking i should try actually playing the game lol , never got past 27% complete due to five fecked saves.
