Hi,

I've been using xtu for the past year or so but switched to throttlestop as xtu doesnt allow me to disable turbo boost.
turbo boost has a negligible effect in performance of daily tasks such as word processing, chrome ... and even some games. In xtu i had created profiles which switch automatically when launching a certain app
for example increased turbo boost short power max when video editing, and as low as it can go for gaming ( to decrease temps and fan noise)

disabling turbo boost(via bios) while gaming drops the fps by about 6-10 fps but still hits the 144fps cap so it doesnt matter. But the temperatures decrease from 90s to 65-70s, and the fan noise is considerably quiter.
so i was wondering if there is an option similar to app-profile pairing in throttlestop as throttlestop allows you to disable turbo boost via software rather than booting into the bios every time i want to play a game.

laptop and cpu in question is
razer blade
i7-9750h, rtx 2070 max q

thanks

app-profile pairing
There is no app-profile pairing feature in ThrottleStop.

You could set up 2 profiles in ThrottleStop, one with the Disable Turbo option checked, and then manually switch to this profile before starting a game. You could also set up a keyboard shortcut to make switching profiles easier. Perhaps CTRL+F1 for full speed and CTRL+F2 to switch to your low CPU speed gaming profile. Use a keyboard combo that does not interfere with any games that you play. With this method, you should be able to switch profiles and switch CPU speed while in game. This feature is hiding in the Options - HotKeys window.

On a side note, I wouldn’t disable Turbo Boost entirely. You are limiting your notebook performance in a very noticeable way (it is capped to 2.6 GHz, instead of boosting up to 4 GHz all cores).

If you want to keep temperatures under control, you just can limit the Turbo Boost to, for instance, 35-35-36-36-38-40 and still having very good performance while avoiding temperatures to go very high.
