I've got a brand new top-of-the-line Netgear Wireless N router, but my new TV only takes ethernet and is on the other side of the house.

I want to just get a cheap router off of ebay, install dd-wrt or tomato, and use it as a wireless bridge to give ethernet to my tv and any other devices I might put there.

What router do you recommend getting, and should I go with Tomato or DD-WRT for something like this?

My budget is around 50 bucks, and I need at least G speeds, if I can get N on ebay for that price, then even better. (But are there any custom firmware supporting N-routers yet?)

that one only has a single ethernet jack so you would also need a switch.

flashing a router gets you more ports all in one device. an equal bridge gets kinda pricey.

That is definitely a concern if you want more than one device connected. Though a cheap 5-port switch is about $12 shipped...

Probably still comes out cheaper than a router, and less hassle still.
