The hottest heroes of 1991 return for a radical, radioactive romp for a new era, featuring awesome action, crushing combos and more toxic waste than you'll know what to do with! Developer and publisher Retroware has teamed up with Troma Entertainment to bring the Toxic Crusaders back, for an all-new, all-action beat 'em up for one to four players! Grab your mop, tutu and attitude, and get ready to clean up the mean streets of Tromaville, one radioactive goon at a time! The demo version is now available for download on Steam!

From Generic Default to…COLORS EVERYWHERE!
When we began development, we didn't even think about giving each character a unique color for their attacks. At the start, every character just had a generic, dull-looking impact effect that was shared with enemy sprites! But then we realized how much cooler everyone would look if we splashed some color into their punches, kicks, and every other attack! Thus…

Colors Across the Board!
We essentially picked out colors from each character's in-game design. Coupling that with a "glowing" impact effect led to very satisfying results! Now each character could look cool, while giving their respective players an indication on whether they're leaving an IMPACT or not!

Streets and Restaurants Bursting with Color!
Seeing the maximum of four players on-screen at once really shows how beautifully chaotic things can get, especially seeing all the bursts of color throughout! Playing as Major Disaster? Smack 'em with red! Playing as Yvonne? Kick 'em with pink! Playing as Nozone? Soar down in blue!

We're excited to share more about Toxic Crusaders as we move along with development! Stick around for more updates!

Finally a game with colours! God, I miss those times! :)

Reminds me of double dragon on the Nintendo.

Toxic Avenger anyone?

They must be doing this because of John Carpenter's Toxic Commando...

So when is Captain Buckee O'Hare going to return along with the Wild Cats, Battle Toads, Biker Mice From Mars, Thunder Cats, Silver Hawks, Robotech, Mighty Max, Samurai Pizza Cats, Centurions, if anyone else wants to add to this list be my guest lol

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
A game was released last year for it and another reboot movie (making them 11-13) is coming out which is bad animation quality...

^ That game was SO hard. Made II and III look like cake walks.
I was a Ninja Turtle in kindergarten, but can't say I recall the Toxic Avengers.

The Toxic Crusaders came out as a cartoon following the movie Toxic Avenger, the difference is the Toxic Avenger was an adult movie and the Toxic Crusaders cartoon was for kids, it was basically out when Captain Planet was.

Not just that one. Games were generally harder back then, with no difficulty setting. This is one of the few things that I'm glad it's changed.

As a kid, I could only enjoy the first few levels of most games, the rest was a pain.

Oh yes, Captain Planet! :ohwell: Good old times, when teaching kids to care for their environment wasn't considered hip or cool, just normal.
