TPU's F@H Team

I needed a space heater in my office. Folding@Home is providing the heat.
 
I tried to get a 5090 to add to the folding arsenal, but was unsuccessful. Had a spot in line several times for Best Buy (online ordering) and it errored out on me. This launch has been frustrating... I haven't had issues the last two launches even in the middle of Covid.
 
From what I could see and mates that I speak to, the 50 series seemed like more of a paper launch than anything else and the stupid crazy high prices of the cards are just not worth the hassle I'm feeling... Even with my older 3090, I can't really see much of a reason to upgrade due to the costs and availability... I do wonder if Nvidia do this on purpose, but I'd rather not go thinking like that down the road... It's unbelievable that even now people would be willing to pay $5000 for a 5090... Apparently one of Reddit was found... I hear some where also coming up with just pictures of the cards and people where still buying them!! I'm just stunned....
 
I think nvidia is prioritizing the fab capacity for their Pro/AI card production. I think that's the main reason. Especially if they think tariffs will hit. They likely want to bulk up as many chips for the super expensive products as they can and fill those orders ASAP.
 
Just got back from a long weekend camping trip. Firing the rigs up in a few minutes.
 
Ai Crystal is going to be down for the next few days, an undetermined amount of time, as I am going to be using it for crazy physics scores to bench a GT 1030 and a GT 710. 4090 is out and on my desk. Will probably have the 4090 back in on the weekend.

Other than that, some Linux updates were making my NIC disconnect, causing no points to be posted for ~12 hrs a few days ago on two different days. So my 3 day average PPD sucks right now, and not folding for the next 2-3 days will make it worse. However, I am doing this to get submissions in to @damric s HWBOT submissions contest.

Might want to watch this video before you install a 5090 in a computer
 
Just wanted to add a solution to a problem I was having getting my sig to display folding stats "actively"
So after much witchcraft, incantations and :banghead:
I was able to do the impossible and find the solution by going here.

Nice, i've seen some projects I was running talked about Alphafold in their description and I remember searching about it, really cool stuff.

Just a quick one from me this morning - Has anyone been noticing any issues with FAH and getting work at all??

Been seeing this on a number of my machines today, was wondering if anyone else was seeing it?? Had to give the program a couple of restarts and eventually work has come down but, not normal behaviour as far as I'm aware or have noticed... :(

I've had a look at the Tech Power Up t-shirts and whilst I'm not much for merch stuff, I'm going to have to buy a couple I think!! :D Mate in the US has a few things he needs to send me, so may as well get some clothes in there too :D :D

No problem, I love doing graphics design, so even if it weren't used, it would still be worth it for me as it gave me a bit of enjoyment (and a bit of frustration as well- lol, that's not an easy design to replicate).

Hey everyone. I am unable to use the GPU to fold on a PC with a GTX 745 in Debian Linux. It has all the necessary NVIDIA drivers installed, including OpenCL. Any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

Makes my 22 million for the number of cards I have here look poor!! But I guess I wasn't folding all day long.... :)
 
Yep. I folded on a 6870 24/7 for a year straight on OCN back in the day, got a badge for it. It did 8k PPD. I was also in the team competition then too, when there was two divisions. This was a long time ago.

Oh nice! I never got one of those, but I do still have my OCN coasters I won during a foldathon. Looks like according to EOC's folding stats I have dropped to 6th place over on OCN even after all this time of not folding there.

Bit dirty from being used often...

I also won acrylic F@H coasters from an OCN event. Mine are proteins but yours look like the OCN flame. You were in the team comp too right? What team? Mine was Brass Bottom Boys.
