Well, anyone can PM me, I aslo have other "predator" DDR3 ram for sale: 3X2GB Avantium Leopard kit, 2000MHz+ 7-7-7-21-1T 24/7 ready with ivy bridge cpu-s, of course you can't max out this kit with sandy bridge or X58 platform, but it is also tested by a professional overclocker.

If you are going to continue testing old motherboards you need a PC speaker you can plug into the board so you can hear the beep codes. It will make troubleshooting much easier. One of your cases may have a speaker built into it. If you can make the wires reach, you can use that. The speaker connector and pins have a pin 1 mark. If they aren't aligned correctly (pin 1 to pin 4) the beep won't work - just need to turn the connector around then.
You can short the power on pins with a flathead screwdriver if you think the switch isn't working.

Have you looked at my photos are they in the right places? One of the cases does have a speaker. The one that I got on eBay should be working out of the box. and post I should not have to troubleshoot that. :( The other two are different mater. All through the HP one did work in the case. What about the Retro PC I can,t see where to get into the boot menuo_O
Well, it does not do anything when I press it.:(
If you can assure me i have the connectors in the right place i would be grateful. :) As it is I think they are.:)

Everything looks correct from what I can see. I would move the keyboard to the USB under the PS2 connector (that's more OCD than an actual problem :) ).
Did you find a speaker to connect? Did you try touching a screwdriver to the power on pins?

What about the Retro PC I can,t see where to get into the boot menu
Are you talking about the AMD Gigabyte system that boots to a DOS prompt?

Yes, that is the correct speaker cable. The yellow wire should be pin 1 on the mobo. The Intel manual will tell you where to connect it. It's very near to the power on pins.

You want to hit the Del key to get into the Gigabyte GA-7VAXP BIOS. From the manual.

Thanks again 68Olds:) :)

I got in to all that but I could not see the boot menu. in there. o_OIs this the speaker connecter you are talking about? It could be that the PSU that came with the case below with the Speaker connecter does work after all. with my new PSU not working with the three motherboards I have tried.
I just can,t believe the motherboard I got on eBay is not working. even with my new PSU.o_O I could try them with one of my other PC,s. I will leave it till tomorrow I have had enough of doing it today with no success :(
No fans spinning keyboard does not work just the light on the motherboard.on mine even the one from eBay.What would it be if a PSU fan does not spin the keyboard does not work and not posting? :(
All I can do on the eBay motherboard is change the Cmos battery and check the ram if that does not work the motherboard will be sent back. I never thought for one minute it would not work. :( I am well peed off with it.:rockout: If it does not work outside the case, I take it won't work if I put it in a case? o_O

By boot menu do you mean boot order? Look at page 33 of the manual. It's under the Advanced BIOS Features tab. Are you wanting to boot from a Windows CD/DVD?
Is this the speaker connecter you are talking about?
Yes, that's a case speaker cable. There should be a speaker near the front of the case.
It could be that the PSU that came with the case below with the Speaker connecter does work after all.
I test power supplies without anything connected to them other than a PC fan that has a molex connector. With the PSU not connected to anything but a fan, use an unfolded paperclip (or a short piece of wire) to connect the green to a black on the 20 or 24 pin connector.

Finally got around and built up two sleepers. One is a X6 1055T/R9 280x 3GB/8GB DDR3, the other is a i7 2600k/R7 265/16GB DDR3.

Also got an AOpen AX4BS from Sunday's bazaar as a final loot before I leave for the 1st semester's finals of 3rd year of college (also the final for the degree I chose.)

Depends upon how old you are, I guess? Some younger folk probably grew up with Sandy Bridge and now consider it ancient technology

Depends on the PSU. Some of the fans in power supplies work off of a thermal sensor. The fan doesn’t run until it warms up inside the PSU. Other PSUs run the fan all the time. That’s why I like to connect a case fan to verify if the PSU is on or not.

Depends upon how old you are, I guess? Some younger folk probably grew up with Sandy Bridge and now consider it ancient technology

View attachment 280626 Got shipped the wrong item, but at least it works. Does need a new BIOS chip however, this one seems borked.
An Ultra 24 mobo! Very cool system. I have one myself, and I believe this may be of help to you: Sun Ultra 24 Workstation Tools and Drivers DVD v1.6
It has one of the most recent, if not the most recent, versions of the BIOS.
Additionally, the FSB of this board can be raised using SetFSB. Choose the CV193CPAG PLL. If that doesn't work, choose whichever one is present on your board (seems to be located under the top PCIE 16x slot's lock

Thank, but I still have the files for those systems due to my old job at the DLR. The BIOS update from DVD did fail, because either the chip is a goner or the EC firmware is corrupted. To be honest, I don't really care either, was originally bidding on a Ultra 27 system board

Just for the record, the clock gen on my board is a IDT CV183-2APAG8 (Renesas: IDTCV183-2A).
