Hi.
So i checked the guide above since I wanted to unlock my old rx460.
The guide said to use the old flash version 2.93 since its an older card. When i use it, even running as an admin in cmd i get a warning and "cannot load driver" after running any command.

Is there anything I need todo before? I see with the newer program its clear you have to alter the drivers before and after instalation, but thats not present in the guide for the old program version.

Where did you try to unzip? c:\atiflash?
Do you have 3rd party anti virus installed on the system?
Yes. I unzipped(winrar) and disables anti virus.
Then I run CMD as admin(even sais admin on top of it). Still I get this warning:

Sure. Want me to boot into old dos mode somehow?
Not really. Just format the USB stick and then put the files on it. Then you can access it under Windows with command prompt on the usb stick

Hello. I encountered that error in 2 cases: - 1st and the most noticeable is under windows 11, second is under Win 10 stripped (tiny)versions.
I think you have some errors in your windows.

Wel im running the win 10 education edition if that matters.
I have no problems using windows in any degree, so no present faults. Is there a workaround doh?

Well, i don't know all the processes that windows loads when it starts up, but for sure those 2 versions (home/pro vs Education) have different processes loaded.
I would try (not 100% sure about the outcome but...) to make the flashing procedure on a win 10 home/pro 64 bit edition.
If you have the option please try it.

I see. I might try on another machine.

But before I do I just have to ask if its worth it? Im currently running the card on OC 1295/1810, undervolted 12v. Stock is 1212, 1750.
This is the MSI rx460 4gb OC single fan.

Wil the firmware give me any better option then overclocking it? And wil it then give me the driver issues iv been reading about?
I know its an old card btw, but the only game i play is ok with it.

No way.
Keep in mind that you own one of the lowest versions from Polaris.
More than this you own a single fan version.
If it were my card i would stay as it is.
But that is just me.

Sounds smart.
Il rip it appart and apply new cooling paste for OC, and then pickup a better used one when it comes along :)
Vă mulțumesc, Imperator

Ha ha, you are most welcome ( Cu placere)
On the other hand keep in mind that the card is designated for office computing rather then a gaming one.
I mean don't expect such a computing power from it compared to a full feature RX 580 or better a RX 590.
Yes you do the right thing when you decided to clean it up , repaste and change the thermal pads.
Cheers mate!
