Hey guys,

So I'm attempting to OC this card to no avail.
Naturally it handles the 900/1300 that CCC permits but I have yet to find a program that will take it further.
Some will allow clock adjustments (CCC, AMD GPU Clock Tool, Afterburner) but only up to the 900/1300 cap ATI set. And others (Rivatuner, GPUTool) allow no adjustment at all.

What puzzles me is that W1zzard successfully OCd other 5870 revision cards past the limit and did so using GPUTool.

Also to note, AMD GPU Clock Tool causes a black screen if I set clocks past the limits.

Any ideas?

This is the card with big red fan in the mid part? It is the same card as Sapphire, but different chioce on build components, I do believe that Trixx works with it to do what afterburner does not.

thanks for the suggestion, I finally found a download link for Trixx (you need to register a Sapphire 5800/6800 in order to dl from them) and it wouldn't read the card

any other suggestions anyone? do I need to flash the BIOS to a card with proven OC access?

You can get Trixx from other sites.

What i'd suggest it flashing the BIOS to the Asus one (that way you can max the core at 1200MHz) and using Trixx or Afterburner (with ATi Unoffical enabled).

I had the same card and ran it at 978MHz on the core with that setup. You could even use Asus Smart Doctor, but you need tthe Asus BIOS for that.

Hmm I dont think that card is a ref card? do it allow voltage tweaking? have you tried MSI afterburner?

I have the same card, I've never OC'd it but it's a non Ref card. No software voltage control. I do know that using MSI Afterburner you gotta go to the install dir and open MSIAfterburner.cfg and modify this line:

EnableUnofficialOverclocking = 1

It's default is 0. Give that a shot and see if it helps. It might it might not. :toast:

Thanks Moonpig, will try the Asus Bios if Kursah's Afterburner suggestion is unsuccessful!

Trust me, the right version of trixx will work. 0.4.21.

what version is your card? I had 8 different cards from XFX, volt control on all of them, even the non reference.

couldn't tell ya about bioses...they were giving me cards with RBE-edited bioses due to a SNAFU on thier end.

I actually admit to having not taken note of what version I found lol I was just happy to have found a source to download
Will try this later.
