Not bad Steevo. Have you tried AMD Fusion Utility?

I wouldn't say it's not right it's just that this user (as well as many others) run their entire PC at stock settings. We all know how cpu limited 3D06 is. Which is why I think this is just one of a few problems with this game.

He's running a 5800+ that CPU just really has no headroom even when OC'd. My 5000+ BE OC'd from 2.6ghz to 3.2ghz could only push the 4870x2 to like 12.5k in 3dmark06.

What did you use to get those numbers?

His CPU is a bottle neck, same fps on all settings. I have a GTX 260 and used a 5800+ on it, i was able to run games fine and all. But when i grabbed a core 2 duo and a p45 motherboard with some overclocking i had 5,000-7,000 point increase in 06. Everything doubled in fps almost, it was a joke on what a performance upgrade i got.

I have a e5200 at 3.5Ghz with low volts at the moment,
a GTX 260
and 9600gso for physics, i can def tell the game is above 50 fps with 1440x900 16xaf 8xaa
and everything on high and enabled. Ive slammed the shit out of cars in the demo and had 8 way pile ups. So......

O ya this game is a sim/bump arcade Do what you like. Car models are OMFG beautiful and im torrenting the game at 70% completion of download O;. im ganna love it custimazation and so on... :D

Thank goodness TPU is pretty fast.. Downloading as we speak!

Aight, have played it for a bit. Looks really nice and feels very win, but it's not really my thing.

DL:ing now...

So the engine is multithreaded, someone should try different affinities, with 1-4 cores and report what it does to performance...

Edit: How the "free look" has been implemented?

1Kurgan1 i totaly agree, 4870x2 is a major bottleneck with any athlon x2, even with a 9600gso, with that said i ran this game using a amd 2400be at 3.2ghz 8800gt, 1600x1200 no aa all high settings i average 40 fps, whats odd is that one core is at 80 to 100% usage the core core 10 to 20%, this game doesn't need a powerful cpu, what i dont get it is, is this game cpu or gpu instensive

finally got this demo working(was just getting a black screen before when trying
to load the game)
just installed the latest ati drivers

now it runs pretty sweet

with vista lol, u sure your not playing a slide show

It's butter-smooth on my system, all stock-speed. Does look promising.

same hear man, just making a point i hate vista, all games programs take a performance hit compared to xp and windows 7

never really had problems running games with vista
maybe im one of the lucky ones.

NFS: Shift "Tip of the Day"

When using Vista or Win7 make sure you disable both Visual Themes and Desktop Composition by right clicking on shift.exe, goto Compatibility tab and checking those 2 items.

Those pics are from GRID correct? Whats the difference? I havent played the track on either. But should do a blank run, park in the same spot on each tack, snap some shots, then put them side by side for comparison.

Could someone with a nvidia card (GTX 260 and higher) post the content of file graphicsconfig.xlm?
In particular the:

<data class="GraphicConfigData" id="XXXXXXXX">
This can be found in \my documents\NFS Shift\graphicsconfig.xml

I've had this game for a week, not played it much tho, been addicted to red faction guerilla.I'm unfortunatley not very good at driving games. It does look very nice though.

There is a thread over at EA which tries to address some of the problems people are having with this game. I suggest that you take the time and read the OP and then read the replies afterwards to get a general idea of what is going on. Instead of "try before you buy" perhaps it's more fitting to "read that thread before you buy".

Aye, and very little of it actually makes a difference. Trouble is I love what I've played of it so much that I've just ordered a 260-216 cos I've got no faith that they'll get it running on ATI well any time soon...

Haven't had an Nvidia card since 2004 so it'll be interesting to check out the differences. I'll sell one of my 4870's probably, ones enough really I feel. Anyone want to buy, LOL

I would never suggest to someone to buy that video card when next gen video cards are out now. If you are that particular for their hardware you should wait for their next gen in the next few months. Specially when you see that this is only one game inwhich they are currently going to patch. It just comes off as impulsive, "rush" buy. At least wait until the next gen stuff is out to get it at a reduced price! :p The game can wait. What choice to do you anyway? All of these bugs are not AMD specific ;)

I never asked for your permission though, did I? I'm doing it as an experiment as I have a number of titles which I think should run better, and by selling one of my 4870's the actual outlay is about the same as buying a game. Bearable, in other words.

My post wasn't implied in that fashion . I'm just responding to your post because you don't believe that the issue would be fixed any time soon. You can buy whatever you want. Doesn't mean you have to post about it in a thread regarding a demo of game :slap:. Specially when the same hardware can be had for a cheaper price once next gen hardware is released. And, some with the hardware are also having problems :).

Aye, fairplay. But everywhere I've posted I've had similar responses, LOL. Its my money, and I need to lose some weight so noodles for a couple of weeks won't do me any harm!
I have no need for the next gen at those prices until DX11 is well established, the current stream of console ports IMHO really don't need the horsepower. Plus I like to have first hand information when it comes to technology, and for the price of about £30-£40 I don't think its too much of a price to pay for experience. I mean, I just spent £130 for a G25 just to play racers, and even that feels worthwhile screaming round the Nordschliefe at 180mph, LOL
