I was thinking of trying windows 7 beta anyone got any advice and what and what not to does, is it truly seeming better than windows vista or is it just another windows vista with new widgets and stuff

For me, it runs much faster, boots up and shuts down faster, runs things faster than vista. But I am comparing the 64 bit versions as I don't bother with 32 bit oses anymore. But it is still in early beta, so I would not use it as my main os. I would dual boot it with your current os. It is less bulky, has unneeded junk removed, but still has all the toys the vista users like! Play with it, but remember, it's not a final product yet.

I am very impressed with Windows 7. I have swtiched to it basically full time. I do however dual boot Vista and Win7 for the sheer fact that my online school work does not support IE8 and Win7. If it wasnt for that, id be running Win7 full time.

Windows 7 some will say is just Vista SP3. Win7 is essentially what Vista should have been. But if it wasnt for Vista setting the bar like it did, we woudlnt have a great stable beta OS that is Win7.

The new GUI takes some getting used to but you can switch it back. UAC is better managed but I disable it all together as its just pure shit anyway.

I have only run into a couple of problems with the OS. The only real problem was figuring out how to install my X-Fi drivers. What it came down to was isntalling the drivers in compatibility mode with Vista. Sound works flawless.

Other than that, I have 0 issues with the beta OS.

I should also mention that I wiped vista from my laptop and am running Win7 on there full time and it does a better job on the laptop than vista did.

Wish I'd known about that driver compatibility trick when I first started using it, ended up using a daniel_k modded driver to install my x-fi, now I know how to update the thing!

It's not really that impressive. However, I do have to agree with johnspack about how it boots up and shuts down faster than vista. It is my main OS on my laptop and haven't had any problems with it. Everything seems to work ok with it. I would have to not recommend it be used as your main os though. Seeing as though the beta is supposed to stop in August...not sure how thats gonna work though lol.

Installed it last night on my Raptor, only OS on there. And ... I fooking love it, walks all over Vista, and i loved that...

Everything is quicker and better looking. The new features are great. I'm going to be using this until Microsoft come round to my house and force it away from me.

Only issue i've had sofar is that GoogleChrome sometimes stops working. Other than that, perfect.

that sums it up for sure :toast: If you have a 2nd rig or want to run duel boot .the boot loader in 7 work better than vista ......but all in all it's great for a beta;)

The OS to me its just a tool for the job ... XP does that , so i have the tool all ready.

I am not Gilly pig of Microsoft , and i do not do folding " Green planet " ..

On all honesty, once Win7 goes final, XP will be the way of the dinosaurs.

I like to be a dinosaur , and Microsoft not that wealthy ..

What do you have to say to all those poor who had payed for Vista .
