I have been a member of this forum for a long time and seen many crap programs used to clean and maintain windows but this program is great and worth every dollar. It works and is trouble free and I just wanted to pass it along. Yes Ccleaner is free and I use it too but it is not better and this is a great program to install on any novice computer owners system like your inlaws or mothers computer etc...

http://www.tune-up.com/products/tuneup-utilities/ Every computer I build is required to have it.

So does it actually go through an uninstall process, clean the registry and other remnants or does it actually "deactivate" a program?

I'm not sure how it works E but I can tell you it works and it does several other thing besides cleaning the registry. Try it, it is free for 30 days I believe. It also has a memory manager if you have Windows XP or God forbid Windows ME. I have zero affiliation with this company but I will tell you it is a great program and does exactly what it says it does. Allot of these type of programs are strait bullshit but this program is not one of them. I like programs like ccleaner and this is better than it and worth paying for, especially if you are a PC novice. It will improve and maintain your systems like the first day you installed it. I build about 15 systems a year and put this on them all and almost never have a issue with it on a pc. It is one of the few things in life that really is worth the money, like my 16 year old Camry or my DFi Lanparty etc... You guys know me and I am very picky. I don't recommend things lightly.

Eh its nothing I'd pay for.. seems bloated, slow, unresponsive at times. "Turbo mode" makes ur computer nearly unusable for anything besides gaming.

I have tried several of these registry cleaner/system optimizer/'tune-up' applications.

I sincerely hate this kind of softwares on my own pcs, but I understand TRT470 reasons, because I have it installed on my mothers PC (winXP), and it does auto cleanup and maintain. Don't believe the 'ram-optimize' bull and 'internet-optimize' bull, but it helps with regular maintenance. So to say, it keeps customers away from complaining! ;)

Tune Up Utilities is good for, well, tuning up your system a bit. I don't use it on my computers because I tend to maintain them; but on friends pcs, especially when they don't know jack and ask me to make it faster, I use Tune Up. And I recommend it, too. The free version. Its relatively easy to use by anyone, and I have never encountered a situation where it would have been dangerous or harmful.

For program removing and personal use however I rely on CCleaner.

I once tried Tune-Up a year back. I didn't like it and noticed no improvements using it. I think it must have only been a trial because I don't recall paying for it. Maybe the trial has some stuff disabled I don't know.

From my experience, stay away from all the magical cleaners and stuff. The only one that hasn't showed a single problem over all the years is CCleaner. With all the others, after several registry cleans things just got worse. And don't be fooled by the small number of entries CCleaner finds. Sometimes less is more.

I've tested TuneUp products before and they are somewhat more reliable than others but still...

Well if you have tried others, they always find like 300+ entries. I've seen CCleaner do that only on the worst maintained systems. I usually run it after several uninstallations of other programs because i know there will be junk left. And it usually finds like 20-30 entries.

Also file cleaning is the safest around. Again it doesn't clean the most but it doesn't scan entire disk for stuff. Because i've seen problems when these tools checked entire disk and erased *.tmp like files and zero byte files and then apps stopped working properly. Some supposedly temporar files aren't taht temporal it appears...

If you need that kind of level of control and you know what you can and what you can't delete, check out Glary Utilities. It's very similar to the TuneUp Utilities, even has very similar features. It's also quite reliable. Oh and they also have free version along with the payable one...

people can have a bad experience with any software, ive had 2 occasions where c cleaner did my pc more harm then good, but ive put tune up utillities on many pc's and its never wrecked any of them or mine ,just maintained it and kept it speedy, all that i have put onto it loved it as do i, but you may not like it, its prety good tho

it dosnt do much you couldnt do yourself, but it does do it regular and automatic except for registry cleanup which it does well and hasnt ever messed mine or any that i know up .

And its "safe" functions are very very standard..

This program has been around since the XP days. And I recall always having to disable the 1-Click Maintenance and Automatic Maintenance. But it worked fine.

Your correct it does but this is better and has several more options. It is just a great hassel free way to keep your system running well.

and what your saying here is strait nonsense I have used this products on at least 100 computer builds and it has never ever harmed one computer I install it on. It even catches allot of spy-ware and fixed all kinds of driver and program conflicts. I think the members of this forum know me well enough to know I wouldn't recommend something harmful on this forum. again read some reviews http://www.tune-up.com/products/tuneup-utilities/awards/

This is not a magical cleaner and the reason I posted it here is because it is one of the few that actually does work. It is as reliable as Ccleaner and has more functions. Still ccleaner is free but not at all better, infact they work great together. Ccleaner is good but this is better read some reviews on it and try it yourself. Also turbo mode is for low end systems to help speed up Windows use on low end systems.

Eh its nothing I'd pay for.. seems bloated, slow, unresponsive at times. "Turbo mode" makes ur computer nearly unusable for anything besides gaming.

This made me laugh why would you use Turbo mode on your system that is for very low end systems like netbooks to make them run faster in Windows and is not for higher end gaming machines. It would also help atom nettop systems etc... play low end games. This is a maintenance program not a magic wand. Also this program is very good for novice users and friends who don't know as much about computers as we do. Trust me it will save you several nonsense trouble calls on computers you build. Like bad driver installs and programs chained to each other etc...

I wouldn't use this on my main desktop, but with that said, I have used it on my netbook in the past to make it run faster, and it did make a difference.

I didn't pay for it, though. I stumbled upon a free full version.

Ok,lets put it this way, maybe it got better in recent years, but before you could get it through sites which said Try this try that, its a free scan download now and try for freee and bla bla bla,you know all what Im talking about..and then you downloaded, installed run some scans and when you pressed Fix a big notice came up saying buy and register a full version now..sorry buddy but for me thats no less than malicious....but once again, they could get better,Im not arguing about that, checked their websit and look pretty neat..
