Turning a PC on with a remote control

Hi guys,

I want to build a simple IR receiver that:

1. Will work only with one remote-control button, i.e. it will react only when a specific button is pressed on my remote control (probably there should be some way to program the IR receiver for the specific button code).

2. When the remote-control button is pressed, the PC will turn on.

I guess it can be done by hooking into the POWER button and closing the circuit, as if the button was pressed.

I know imon (http://www.soundgraph.com/pr/e_pr_4.asp?m1d=1&m2d=4) supports it, but it's a total overkill for what I need.

Can anyone help with that?

Cheers,
Moti

Hmm...

1. What do I need an emitter for?
2. How do I build this circuit? All the diagrams on the web are for a general puporse IR reciever. What I need is a receiver that is not connected to the COM port. Just turns on the PC when a *specific* button is pressed on a given remote control...

This would work also.

Here are the scematics for a reciever circuit that works with any remote controll. When triggered, it will turn your pc on.

Because that coolermaster thing is ugly. Atleast IMO. I'd want something clean that you wouldn't see.

its not coolermaster. and yes it is kind of ugly. but are you guys really that lazy that you cant reach down and turn it on and off. Its not like your trying to impress anyone with your wicked l337 remote skillz
