sorry but to the point

Here's what Ubisofts DRM is doing these days, they don't just verify the number of PCs you work on, nope .. they monitor hardware changes. So once we inserted that GeForce GTX 590 the hardware id # changed rendering our activation invalid.

this is the worst DRM i have ever seen and i deffinately will not be buying into Any of that shit, what is this company thinking at all i have more original titles then ever before due to, a having a job and, b getting old and scared of the cold but il not be buying ubisoft ,oh no

I was fully offended during the typeing of this as i have bought UBI games hawx1 and 2 and a few others

Yeah I have had this happen to me .

Ubisoft driving people to pirate. :shadedshu

I would so buy ANNO 2070 but the fear I won't be able to play is holding me back.

They are inventive i give them that... in pissing people off, in this manner noone will buy their games anymore.

Why in the hell would I want to pirate a Ubisoft game? I don't want that crap on my computer! They would be doing everyone a favor by closing shop. They're a game company and frankly their games are horrible.

I couldn't agree more .

i did hope upon hope hawx2 was going to be what hawx 1 should have been and more but both were shit instead.

the shocker for me is that three gfx upgrades down the line they will now rob their shit back lmao not right id fight em actually fight someone over that lol

oh and its not happened to me ,they cant retorspectively update my older UBI games with that shit surely?

then again im pissed in principle only as ive put 20mins only into hawx2 since purchase months ago

Settlers 7 is a good game (you-are-not-a-pirate servers down--only pirates could play), Splinter Cell (Star-Force incompatible with 64-bit Windows) is a good series, Beyond Good & Evil (Tages not compatible with 64-bit Windows) is a good game, ANNO (severe activation limits) is a good series, Assassin's Creed (single player game requiring constant online connection) has several gems in the series, etc. Every single one of those I mentioned have been plagued by DRM problems.

When is Ubisoft going to take the hint?

how exactly is this supposed to work anyways, if you bought said game on steam your supposed to be able to play the game on any pc your sat at with your account, ive used my account on 5 pcs myself, but only one at a time and only me playing.

I like there client better then origin its much more unobtrusive which I like.
What i don't like is HAWX 2 freaking out in mp to the point its unplayable even after i forwarded ports, player controlled jets freak out when i radar lock them to the point that the game auto targets something else.

Yeah, I'm for DRM when handled and implemented properly, and this is not how to implement and handle it properly...

I couldnt disagree more.

Back when they released the first 3 splinter cell games they were some of the best games I have ever played and still are to this day. Then the franchise started to slip. I bought SC: Double Agent and had nothing but rendering problems with the game and I havent touched it since. I still like to think that DA is a great title as well.

Also, the Assassin's Creed series is fucking amazing. I love those titles. And even after Assassin's Creed III, they are releasing more AC titles (not centered around Desmond) and I for one cannot wait.

Yeah it sucks! My brother bought AC2 and AC Brotherhood i think, and most of the time he can't connect to Ubicrap to play the game. I told him not to buy those games, but they were like $5 on Steam sales.

Ive never had a problem connecting to play AC.

Anno2070 is also extremely good. But I didn't pay for it because of their 3 activation limit to begin with(and now that I know hardware changes count as activations I'm really glad I didn't buy it). Activation limits are OK when handled properly, but Ubisoft simply does not handle them properly.

didnt ubi-soft say they were gonna stop making games for PC because 90% of PC users are pirates??? - something along the lines of that anyway...

Dont forget - we are getting a G.R:F.S thats free to play due to the content being recycled and cut/pasted off previous games while the console gets the full shabang.

Pretty pittyful if you ask me.

Another thing, ANNO 2070 isnt even for sale at my local bestbuy/gamestop/frys. Only way to purchase it is through steam. And every other game on Steam got at least a 10-25% discount over the holidays, EXCEPT Anno. So for that they lost at least 1 purchaser.

Agreed. I don't know of too many businesses that disregards part of their customer base by basically saying they don't care, then going on say that most of them are pirates/theives. Yeah, Ubisoft gets none of my money.

So long as they keep bringing ac titles to pc i don't really care. that's the only game series i really care for from them anyway

I can't name one situation where activation limits on anything make any sense. Imagine if you had to reactivate your car everytime you changed the oil or reactivate a book everytime you moved. It doesn't make any sense and infringes severely on consumer rights. Requiring activation more than once should be made illegal.

The copy should only have been scanned for legitimacy once (maximum) just like getting authentication papers for some antique. It should be up to the owner if they want to have it checked more than once.

The only reason why the concept of activation limits exists is because the software industry especially is trying to end used-sales/trades. This also infringes on consumer rights by denying First-Sale doctrine.

I haven't bought any Ubisoft game that hase the stupid activation and i never will no matter how good the game is. Only activation i sort of approve is the one used by EA. The one in NFS HP 2010 seems intelligent enough to keep my activation right no matter what i do. I've once forgot to deactivate the game before i reinstalled OS and it automatically recovered the "lost" activation.
When i changed gfx card, i had to re-activate the game, but it didn't waste my activation token.
I still have 5 activations left even after 2 screwups. But this only applies to their latest system used in NFS HP 2010 and later games. Older ones were using stupid SecuROM which wasted activation each time you forgot to de-activate before format. Which sucked hard.
Still, i think activations are lame. GoG seems to run just fine yet they don't have any kind of DRM.
So there clearly is no need to play a bastard. There are still lots of honest ppl who don't steal software...

thanks for the title change mods, i was fumein when i first posted sos.

I am still not happy tho and ubisofts idea that all pc gamers are pirates is funny, how the hell then have those who bought orignals counted on their lists, from here on in they have made their games pirate only to me which simply means i wont bother at all even demoing their shit stick GRFS and hawx 3 right up on the third shelf on right the 50p shelf

I wouldnt buy a car that the shop gripped back in three years
I wouldnt buy a TV i could only move between 3 flats
I wouldnt buy a house i was only allowed to paint 3 times

wagwan with some effin common sense in the world how has our democratic showin the world political system allowed this shit to be legal

they should at least give you a way to decativate the installation like Crysis 2 (cant remember what sort of DRM that game uses) limiting the installations to what hardware you have in your pc is stupid If youre a person that upgrades stuff a lot.

WTF with the sig and avatar change FreedomEclipse??? That's only slightly better than Ubisoft's DRM!!!
