Uninstalling old cat drivers after new card installed.

Got myself into a pickle... I am upgrading my X800GTO to an X1900XTX. After I removed my X800GTO, I realised I hadn't removed the drivers first, so I put it back in and now it doesn't work (my bad - and that's not the problem).

So I'm forced to install the X1900XTX with the X800 drivers installed (XP, can't remember the Cat driver version).

Question - can I do this? Is there a way to uninstall drivers via safe mode or other means?

should work fine, ATi uses the same drivers for all radeon cards.

Catalyst 6.8 Drivers (the newest)

if you have issues, try downloading drivercleaner pro, chose every setting with ATI on them and delete them, restart and do a fresh Driver installation

I got it figured out with the F8 key into safe mode - the problem is that although the drivers say they support all of those, it actually detects the card you have, and installs the correct components... so swapping cards on that list will usually not work without installing again.
