Epic has announced that Unreal, Unreal 2 and Unreal Tournament 1999 are now officially freeware and are hosted by OldUnreal.

It will link you to OldUnreal for said games which host installers for each game that download the ISO and install the patches all in one go

UT99 never had a key anyways. So you could run it on multiple computers is you did a ISO mount

Two words, Rights Issues.

For those who don't speak weasel, a lot of the early Unreal stuff was a bunch of developers working together on the engine. As such, who owns what is a bit murky, so Activision...the owner of a lot of the early Unreal stuff, is making it functionally impossible to be released as source code. That doesn't stop releases like the one above, but it does mean they cannot release the thing outright. Yay legal system.

With the last official patch it didn't require an ISO either. I have a version in a folder I have been running for ages, copy paste the folder, run the ut99.exe.

Chaos UT99 was awesome too, RPB sniper was always fun.

Im glad for later Versions Mods were created to bring 99/chaos ut weapons to 2003/4 and UT3.

I believe it is time for a new Chapter in Unreal story and where its adventure based then during times in story you play in a tournament.

Thats if Epic will get off their ass and stop pushing fortnite drivel.
