Upgrade to Radeon HD 7850 from GTX 550 Ti

Hey TPU!

I got a new graphics card for my AMD computer (see specs for details). It's a Radeon HD 7850.
Link: HIS IceQ H785Q2G2M Radeon HD 7850 2GB 256-bit GDDR...

However, it seems to be worse in GTA IV than my old card, a GTX 550 Ti. That card is now in my secondary i7 computer, but the CPUs are never maxed out during GTA IV so I don't think that's the issue.

It just runs a lot less smoothly and I had to turn down the Auto Configure graphics settings in the game, which makes me sad. Did I really downgrade? Or is something else the issue?

By the way, overclocking the GPU in AMD OverDrive from 860 to 1050 makes no difference.

Doesn't look like it will make a difference. You have to take into consideration that GTA IV is a very badly coded console port so it runs bad even on the best systems

Is something wrong with that chart? why is the 7950 3GB shown as worse?? If it really is I can happily tell my friend my computer is better than his

But back to the issue at hand...

GTA IV is terribly optimized so thats why you see most of them perform the same aslo

it should be about 38% on average better than a 550ti, depending on the game.

GTAIV is very CPU bound. You need CPU power more then GPU.

My CPUs never hit 100% I have dual monitors on both my AMD FX-8350 and i7 860 systems.
Usually around 20-60%, sometimes 80%, but never maxed out.

But my AMD system did not change at the time except for where I switched from GTX 550Ti to Radeon HD 7850. Ignore the rest of the system, it's something with the graphics.

Actually, the 7850 should be nearly 80% faster than the 550 ti.
You don't subtract the percentages, you divide them...

Anyways, it might be one of those AMD frame latency issues.
