Hello everyone,
I am currently looking to upgrading my gpu from R7 360 to a RX 5500 XT, and i am concered about the power on my gpu (if it will be enough) and my processor ( that it wont affect a lot the frames performance). Moreover i read a post somewhere that the diference from PCIE 3.0 slot to 4.0 that 5500 is compatible with makes no big of a difference on 8GB memory card ( and that is not a big problem for me at the moment).
My setup is as follows:
  • MOTHERBOARD: GIGABYTE GA -B85M-D3H RETAIL (WITH 4 SLOTS NOT 2)
  • PSU: CORSAIR CX600- 80 PLUS BRONZE CERTIFIED 600W
  • RAM: KINGSTON 16GB DDR3 1600HZ HYPERX 2 MODULES
  • CPU: INTEL CORE I5-4460 3.20GHZ
Do you think it will all run fine and will be compatible with one another, if not what is something i should definetely upgrade now and not later on.
Thank you,

Your 600W Corsair PSU will handle a RX 5500 without any problems.
PCIe v3 will not bottleneck in your case, thats more of a concern for high end handware, your setup is fine for that.

5500X is only a 130W card which is about the same as the old R7 360.

Before you change card you should update your motherboard BIOS. That's likely to be your only compatibility issue as I've done hundreds of GPU upgrades on 3rd/4th gen Intel boards and occasionally been greeted by a black screen that required an updated motherboard BIOS to resolve.

A GTX1060, 1650, RX570 or 5500XT are all reasonable upgrades for an old quad core. Some games will really struggle with only 4 threads, but if you dial back the CPU-intensive options you should still get decent results out of any of those cards. The difference will definitely be night-and-day compared to your old R7 360 :)
