Upgrading to Intel Core Ultra system - Question about PSU compatibility

I would like to reuse my Corsair RM750 ATX 2.4 power supply. Will I need a new ATX 3.0 power supply for this upgrade?

Upgrading to these parts:

• Intel® Core™ Ultra 7 265K
• MSI mag B860 Tomahawk WiFi ATX Motherboard
• Corsair VENGEANCE DDR5 64 GB (2x32 GB) 5600Mhz C40

Re-using these old parts:

• Noctua NH-U14S
• Samsung 990 Evo 2TB NVME / 2X Crucial MX500 2TB
• PALIT RTX 4070
• Corsair RM750

No need to swap PSUs. It's only the GPU that may need 3.0 spec. But if your 4070 is fine, I wouldn't worry much about it.

Just curious, why would you choose an ultra 265k over AMD's current offerings?

I mainly use my PC for editing and rendering large 4K video files in Adobe Premiere. In terms of price, the closest AMD equivalent to the Core Ultra 7 265K is the Ryzen 7 9700X.
While the 9700X is a solid CPU, it doesn't perform as well as the 265K in Premiere, especially during rendering.
It also lacks Intel Quick Sync, which provides a noticeable speed boost for H.264/H.265 exports in Adobe's encoder.

Premiere pro can use both at the same time... and it gives it an edge over the equivalent amd processor for my usage case

Not all post effects can be off-loaded. Most is still on the CPU even in 2025.

That and the 265K was only $270 on Amazon US last week (until yesterday evening). So, if you got it during that time, that was actually a great deal. MSRP is now back to $300.

Unless for some reason you decide to go absolutely batshit insane overclocking this PSU is overqualified despite its age. You will be okay.

A bit of an odd pairing.
Unlocked CPU + B860 chipset + RAM with very modest specs.
With that CPU and mobo you won't have access to the 200S Boost feature.
I'm guessing the non-K wasn't cheaper and the RAM is dirt cheap (it should be with those specs). Is 64GB 6400 C32 that much more expensive?
Also RAM capacity surely has priority given the usage, but in that case why not stretch to 2x48GB? 96GB would make those specs more palatable. 64GB is plenty generally speaking, but for your use case perhaps it's not THAT plenty. But you know better what RAM usage you had thus far and extrapolate from that.
Also budget I know, perhaps this is the ceiling, in that case sorry for the poke.

There's nothing odd about it. This is a workstation and RAM speed is much less important than capacity when it comes to video editing.

More capacity is preferred over speed, yeah. Shame the pricing on the 285 is absurdly bad, even worse than on the 285K, and downgrading to the 265 isn't going to make it cheaper either. So 265K seems the go-to CPU for Arrow Lake thus far. The B860 chipset will be a-OK.

It's not for overclocking or benching.

I'm just looking for a setup that can handle editing, rendering, and encoding large 4K video files while keeping cool and quiet.

What drew me to this particular B860 motherboard, over a Z890, is that it includes 5 Gigabit LAN and Wi-Fi 7, which even a lot of the more expensive Z890 boards don't have.

And I can get 10Gb fibre here in Portugal which will help a lot with uploading 4K content.

The K and non-K cpu versions are the same price here, but the difference to upgrade to that ram is around 60-100 euros. I'm just trying to keep costs minimal.

All in, this setup comes to just over 700 euros including tax on Amazon Spain which is about what I'm happy spending right now.
