Hope I'm in the right place. Can't seem to insert the plug from the case into the MB. The pins all look good but my eyesight might not be the best any more. I'm afraid to try using too much force and too little ain't doing it. Help?

check the orientation of the cable to the header. they are keyed to make sure they are not inserted "upside down"

What are your system specs? I've seen comm port motherboard connectors that look very similar to USB 3.0 connectors.

I understand that and I am trying to insert it correctly.

MB is Asus Prime B550-Plus.

The case all this is in is a rather in-expensive case. So that might be part of the problem. It's a Zalman T6 ATX Mid tower.

Check the pins in the connector and motherboard.
Look for any pins/connections that might be bent, out of alignment, bent connector framing, etc.
You might need a light and magnifying glass.

I did do that too. Everything looks good. what I did was remove the the bottom piece, the passage way through that was very tight. I think it more of a stabilizer for the plug. Now I have a different problem. No Audio. Does any run through that plug? All it says on the plug is USB 3.0

Where are the speakers/headphones connected? I/O back plate or front?

I have tried both the header panel and the rear panel...nothing. The audio drivers I have in my device manager are AMD high def audio and AMD Streaming audio.

The USB 3.0 connection does not supply analog audio.

For your case front panel audio, there's a separate connection, usually labelled something like HDAUDIO. Consult the owners manuals for both your case and your motherboard.

You will need to install audio hardware drivers. They are either on the installation CD that came with your motherboard or from the support section of the Asus website. The driver will enable the onboard audio chip which provides front panel and rear panel audio.

Fill in your system specs.

I'm back after some time of reinstalling windows, downloading and reinstalling drivers. I also purchased another B550 MB, all to no avail. The problem still exists.
A question...could the header cabling going to the MB affect the sound, even from the lower panel? Other than that. I'm at a complete loss. Never had this kind of problem before I have built a few DYI computers in my day. Appreciate everyone's input. Thanks again.

Check the manual, there should be a drawing of the motherboard with all connectors where they should go.

Would installing an audio card over ride all this other crap?

If you will use an PCIe audio card, no other internal wires needed for audio then.
