pls help
i'm running on windows 8.1 now.

sounds like you need drivers or maybe even to enable them in the bios too?

check their website :)

Those are the mouse port, especially set asode. No they do not require any special drivers at all, they are already in W7 and onward.

The only thing I can say is that you need to make sure in the BIOS they are set to USB 2.0, and not sitting on legacy USB 1.1 for instance.

Also, the only thing that should be plugged into there is a mouse. I do not believe the red mouse port is set up for anything else.

i thought it was the black ones for k/board and mouse?

already set usb 2.0 enable and disable the legacy. still not working.
and just plug my mice/kboard there and still not working

First off, look at your motherboard to see which USB controllers are present.

Check in your device manager to see if there are any troubles or unknown devices.
If you do have problem devices or unknown devices... try letting windows see if it can find them for you.

You may want to try installing the Intel INF driver and/or an ASMedia driver.

As far as I know, the red and black ports are USB 2.X and the blue are USB 3.X.
You should be able to use any for anything... although some devices are finicky and you may need to try one or the other.
The USB 3.x on that board, I believe are using an Etron controller; where as the USB 2.X are using an Intel controller or ASMedia controller.

This might be your problem. Enable legacy. Or, as @95Viper suggested, install motherboard INF drivers.

@vega22 ASRock like to do a special mouse port, and ID it in red. On some of their models it also has special polling rates set up to make it better for mouse use.

Are you having problems with all the red USB ports or just the bottom one under the firewire port? The one under the firewire port will never work, because it isn't a usb port.

Have you ever tried to plug an USB key into an e-sata port ? Just to make it perfectly clear : plugin an usb key or whatever USB devices into an e-sata port work like any other USB port !

It has always worked like this on any desktops / laptops i owned.
