I recently had to send back a front panel circuit board to Xigmatek. The one I received back has me a bit confused.

Per the USB specification, the wire usually go red, white, green, black.

Well, on the end of the cable that connects to the header on the motherboard, that is the order. The other end of the cable, which connects to the header on the front panel circuit board (not the female end of the USB port), it's wired red, green, white, black.

I have the cables for the front panel board I sent back to them, and they're wired to connect the same at both ends.

On the USB 3.0, I was going to mention how the end that plugs into the motherboard header is black instead of blue, but I checked and apparently this is okay so long as it has the SS initials, and it does. This may have been nitpicking anyway.

I can also provide pictures if that helps.

I think I'm going to try and go through this one step at a time and not yet go into the numerous differences in the new AC'97/HD audio cable and the old one.

Everything is branded SanDian and I couldn't find much info about them.

Thanks in advance.

first... if it works... no need to worry.

the header on the front panel may have a slightly differnt pinout to accomodate for the small circuit(PCB) size and/or placement of the ports. so, as i said, it it works, dont worry.

you sound like paranoid parrot to me :p

Umm, if it is wired wrong, wouldn't you be worried about blowing whatever you put in it?

The pinout is different as compared to what? I don't see how the size of the PCB comes into play when both PCBs are the same size and the pinout is different between the two.
