Their is only one phone jack where a modem can be placed in our house and it is to complicated to get Ethernet from the modem up to my computer. I can still connect with wireless internet but I want to be able to use Ethernet. The modem is a all in one (router+modem). If I buy a router and place it in my room can it connect to the all in one modem without using a phone jack (Just plugging it into the power outlet) alowing me to connect the router to the PC using Ethernet?

No. You need a ethernet cable run from the first router/modem to the second router. You can use powerline networking, but that isn't nearly as fast as an actual ethernet cable, and sometime isn't even as fast as wireless.

Just run a network cable from your router/modem to your room somehow. Under the floor, the ceiling. Or use a Powerline adapter like newtekie suggested. Or your wireless

Powerline can go up to 1200 mbps and is more stable. I'd take it any day over wireless.

I have my TV connected with powerline adapter and it is enough to stream HD content, and it's only a 100mbs (there was a really good deal for a pair so took it for testing and have been using it since) or so part and you can already get gigabit parts aswell. So might be your best option, if there is no way to wire a ethernet cable.

Well Ethernet isn't an option atm, and powerline networking depends on the wires you already have in the house (which will be very old) have any suggestions on top notch wireless network adapters?
